Actually I find the "empowerment" angle to be ironic.

There is no blanant SJW'ing in the show, IMO. They address it, but in a way where it's not about virtue signalling, but dollars and cents, marketing polls. .....polls showing they want Starlight in a one-piece with her tits hanging out, instead of something more practical and comfortable for her......or the barfing up the jizz scene, after blowing the Deep, and Maive telling her wipe it off and get over it.

This show isn't the type of empowerment that something like Captain Marvel tried to do. It's about 'real' empowerment in the face of commercialized empowerment, and the blatant realities of living in such a world where 'empowerment' has it's limited.
