south korea has better soap operas

Korean movies are definitely better today. Japanese moviemakers no longer spend enough money on their movies.

Currently Korea makes better movies.

South korea makes far better films

I hope this doesn't sound like an idiotic question but assuming they are better than Japanese films, does that mean they are actually good or just slightly less bad?

Korean films are actually good. The Japanese film industry is all but dead so it's really a bad comparison.

SK makes better live-action.
Nippon makes better animation.

They're quite good

Havent watched many of either but Train to Busan was rad.

>does that mean they are actually good or just slightly less bad?
The SKorean movies I've seen were actually very good and you could tell that they definitely took hints from good american directors.
Definitely better than nip movies by a big margin.

can't say I'm an expert but the few korean movies I've seen are based as fuck, objectively well made and with tons of soul.
the last one I saw was castaway on the moon, highly recommended

Unless you like idols, jap cinema is mostly done for

hola reddit

Japanese if you include anime. If you're only counting real-life films, than Korea. Japanese real-life films kind of suck and are nothing special.

> they definitely took hints from good american directors.
LOL wtf

China

>Japan or shitty bootleg Japan

South Korean films take some heavy influence from American cinema

>Reddit BAD!!

Tossup.

Korean movies tend to be all style and less substance.
Japanese movies when handled by a competent director does good, but there are too few of those.

If you aren't shitposting, what are some great Chinese films?

Japan>Hong Kong>Taiwan>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>shit>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>S.Korea>China

Japan has better highlights, but South Korea has a more consistently good output, imo.

Japs for sure.
Koreans make formulaic soul-less films while japs innovate and make films that actually stick with you.

That movie was so captivating and hurtful at the same time.

No idea but I can say that at least in the last 2 decades korean actors are way better than the japanese ones.
