I started drinking cognac because I thought it would be funny. Turns out it's really tasty.
What are the best films to watch while getting bombed off cognac?

What brand? Don't forget to try other various brandies as well. Oh, and give Cognac's cousin Armagnac a try too. I've got a bottle on the way now.
Courvoisier. A lot of cognacs are out of my price range for regular drinking.
what exactly would have been funny about drinking a particular style of liquor?
Last tango in paris
it's hard to describe, but it just is
I hate whisky it makes me feel sick but I love vodka, I’m actually coming off my buzz now thank goodness for autocorrect though. Fuck tou its tuesday its nice for relaxing
>Whisky makes me sicky!
Ah, hm. Well save up enough for the $50-$100 range bottles. Trust me, you can taste the better difference. Past that price range is usually reserved for longer aged bottles of the same brands where the differences become more subtler, so don't worry about those unless you've got the coin.
Try Cardenal Mendoza. It's Spanish brandy for ~$50-60 and it is absolutely remarkable.
>MANGO HABANERO WHISKEY!
If I get drunk off drinking bourbon neat my stomach feels like shit the next day and I need to eat a bunch of antacids
Courvoisier was adapted and celebrated in the hip hop community. By drinking it, he was attempting to be witty and ironic as OP will never be accepted in the Hip Hop community. Get it? Hilarious
Holy mother of soŷ
I dont like to drink and watch movies. Drinking, for me at least, is for socializing. I watch kinos sober or the occasional hit of the WEED
ah, i thought he was referencing the ladies man from 90s snl.
>Cardenal Mendoza
Awesome. I buy bottles in that price range, but they are more kind of a treat sort of thing, maybe a few times per year. I will definitely buy this.
While we're at it, got any port recommendations?
Got really drunk during detective pikachu, almost cried twice, teared up
This. I can't concentrate on a movie when drinking. My friend wanted to see that Seth Rogan Christmas movie awhile back, I was drunk and kept shouting it was boring
Courvoisier smells like a leather couch
Port wine? Sorry, not a particularly frequent wine drinker, know very little about it. Although...I did pick up a bottle over the weekend of some port, coincidentally. Haven't opened it yet, but it's called Taylor Fladgate. Looked it up and it's all basically 4.5 or 5 star reviews, so consider that maybe.
I love getting drunk while watching a movie. or I used to rather
Woody Allen movies are kino for this
Any other liquors or liqueurs you like that you would like to mention? I have started making real cocktails at home and just drinking stuff neat. Nicer stuff. I like chartreuse and campari a lot but want to expand my palette.
My current top list includes the Cardenal Mendoza as mentioned already, Plymouth gin is quite good for gin if you like that stuff, Pusser's Rum for true British rum, Ron Zacapa, also a rum. I have two bottles I've yet to open, Barr Hill honey vodka and Marie Dufau Armagnac, though I got them due to their positive reception in the first place. Try Redbreast whiskey as well if you like whiskey.
Anyways, it's all a personal journey to find what you like best and only you can really discover that. I'm still discovering new tastes myself. I like perusing the catalogs of whiskeyexchange and Aries-winery and similar sites to see what looks interesting and do research based off that.
I get you my man. There are things I do that are just funny. They just are, I couldnt really explain them without explaining my entire life and all the causal events that have transpired to inspire such a mundane expression of humor.

Get armagnac. Harder to find but it's usually a lot cheaper for an equivalent quality level, and it's even better than cognac imo. Still grape brandy from France, but from a slightly different region (Gascony). The main difference is that they use a different type of still and it's distilled fewer times, which means it has more oils/flavors left in the base spirit. It's richer and more intensely flavored than cognac, and leans more towards dried fruit/spice flavors than the lighter fruit and floral flavors cognac often has.
Depends if you want wood-aged or bottle aged, that makes the biggest difference. Ruby port and vintage port are both bottle aged, and as such don't oxidize. They'll have a deep red color and flavors more similar to a red wine. Tawny port and colheita (vintage dated tawny) are aged in wood, and the longer they're aged the more they'll oxidize turning from red to amber/brown and losing fruit flavors in favor of nutty/caramelized flavors.
I generally go more towards tawny for port- if I want fortified red wine I gravitate more towards Banyuls, which is less sweet- and usually find that vintage-dated tawnies tend to be a higher level of quality, if you can find them. Kopke and Messias both make high-quality and fairly priced vintage tawnies. I live in Canada where alcohol prices are quite high compared to most of the States, and you can get a bottle of Messias tawny from 1968 for like 100-120 bucks.
If you're into fortified wine, definitely also look into sherry and madeira. Both have a very wide range of styles, going from bone-dry high acid styles (fino and manzanilla sherries, sercial maderia) to rich and oxidized but dry (palo cortado, amontillado, and oloroso sherries, verdelho and some boal madeiras), to very sweet (Pedro Ximenez sherry, some boal madeiras, malvasia madeira). Madeira especially can age an insanely long time and develop incredible complexity.
If you're drinking port wine and cognac then I'm afraid there's some negro in your heritage

how do you know so much about booze
It's an interest I have I guess. Picked up an interest in wine working in the restaurants I have (although I work back of house), and it spread from there. I'm not an expert but I'm decently knowledgeable about things through my own research and trying things out.
>drinking V.S
LMAO, that shit is for cooking only.
