What’s lost in all of this is the fact that Sony cannot continue making Spider-Man films for the foreseeable without Kevin Feige and also that Disney still has rights to use the current Tom Holland Spider-Man in the MCU. As long as Disney uses the Tom Holland Spider-Man, Sony can only make movies with Marvel (aka Kevin Feige) producing. Where it is open to interpretation is if an actor other than Tom Holland is cast in the role, that essentially ends the terms. But the terms were set this way so that in the event of a fallout, Sony is indefinitely barred from making Spider-Man films despite owning the film rights. Because of the MCU deal which requires Marvel to produce. Only Marvel can end the deal not Sony. It’s a bad deal for Sony that they made out of financial desperation a few years back when they were near bankruptcy until the PS4 and iPhone camera parts saved them.

What this all comes down to is Sony has to make Spider-Man films on Marvel’s terms of they will lose the film rights for not continuing to make the films. If it comes to that it will no doubt be settled in court but the mouse is going to either get more control and more money, or buy the rights at a discount and Sony is the one that’s fucked.
