It's hilarous how a simple ankle fracture can ruin most people's life in Murica. Meanwhile other countries with socialized healthcare can afford to puncture their lungs, fracture their bones then land in the ICU and get off with a bill worth a few thousand dollars.
The government did a good job telling and conditioning boomers that it's not fair for them to pay for others' healthcare or "handouts" and that private insurance is the way to go. Then those same damn boomers are the ones that eventually make use of Medicare e.g. the handouts. I work in healthcare and seen this shit too many times, young and mid-aged people stressing out because they're financially ruined while the boomer takes their government cut and lives happily ever after. Fuck you got mine attitude.

The thing about America isn't that it's a 100% private system. The US federal government spends just as much, if not more, as a percentage of their budget on public healthcare in the USA as any European country does. If not more.
It's the way in which that public healthcare is distributed is the issue.
Also, whoever thought up the idea of linking healthcare to your employment should be tarred and feathered. What a shitshow.
