I'm not sure you understand what following a normal distribution entails. It means even if you watched entirely the greatest films ever made, you'd have to peg '5/10' to the mean 'greatness' and put ~1/3 below that and ~1/3 above that.

if you're forcing a normal distribution upon a selected population, while having knowledge of the real population, then the statistics are completely meaningless and become relative to their own set conditions
ie you'd have to have a 'normal distribution' for every type of movie you watch
