Ff7 was a bad story. The whole train part was retarded. Ff8 was a marginally better story because it didn't rely on the grind. And being in a military academy with pretty grills was cool to 14 year old boys.

Personally I liked X, and Yuna was pretty good. But Tidus was just a horrible protagonist. He cried like a little bitch the whole fucking time. I cried less when my dad actually beat me, and he just cried because his dad didn't teach him enough kicks. Tidus ruined the whole story, which wasn't bad (reincarnation, endless cycle, we are our fathers).

Then they literally followed it up with a game about Yuna and Riku, and then a really bad MMO that I think was only competing with SWG, not WOW yet.

FF7's story is actually surprisingly good for a Square game. Problem is it's devolved into anime garbage since 1997. Any movie adaptation would be like Advent Children, which is pure weeb cringe.

It receives a lot more hate than it deserves. The combat is actually some of the most engaging in the series. XIII-2 is the most fun once you've mastered the combat system. Storywise, the lore is there and interesting, but the actual story presented is very cringe anime tier with a fedora tip at the end of FFXIII:Lightning Returns.

X is still popular but it's mostly nostalgia from slightly older zoomers. The story is good and the sphere grid system is one of the better levelling mechanics used in FF games and it has a great soundtrack, but the game is one long hallway with a few really tedious side quests, and it's the point in the series where anime and jap shit took over. Auron and Yuna are really good characters but the rest are bland or suck.

No, it does not. XV has no structure whatsoever. XII might have have made the plot secondary, but one still had to go from point A to point B. XV had no plot until the end of the main story, which was laughably short.

I have played every FF (even the obscure ones like MQ) and can honestly tell you that I have no idea what the story of FFXV was. Its mind boggling.

I get it Noctis is heir to the throne, Royal Blood, ect. But the overarching plot was just not there or hidden in sub-context across the world. Too much was changed from the original vision and other parts were diced for DLC.

I tried to explain to others what the story was after I beat it and, I just couldn't. It isn't a problem I had with any other game in the series.
