RAILWAY STATION

big oof

This is the only movie I've ever stopped watching midway through
I think I got to the point where some people in a casino turned to lizards and got a terrible headache, I still haven't watched it all the way through

yeah it's all hype, counterculture-lite for highschool girls who hate their dads, and 35 year old pizza hut workers.

>dude the lens makes it all weird, johnny depp is all whacky and his voice sounds like a loser writer that joe rogan thinks is important.

>Dr Gonzo
He liked him, despite his ethnic handicap.

lol, if there ever was a movie that was redddit, it's this. go back

Hola Reddito

I didn't truly "get" this movie until I read the book. Ultimately, I don't think the movie can be "gotten" beyond being absurd and intensely enjoying Depp's performance. Any intellectual merit and commentary is lost in translation from book to movie, though, this is not an insult and the movie is enjoyable in its own right when you realize it is not meant to go anywhere or leave you with a resounding message. In this way, I think it is actually anti-reddit.

This is far more hallucinatory than that movie:

I also have to say that much of the value of the book would be better spent on people who lived through the 60s in their youth. I don't think modern audiences who are removed from the cultural zeitgeist of 60s drug culture (like myself) can truly connect with it.

bad movie

We can’t stop here this is reddit country!

your high school english teacher gives you one compliment and here you are a day later thinking your opinion matters. classic

I'd say the message is pretty relevant to the youth of today

I did that when I read Frankenstein in high school- Fear and Loathing is something I watched because it's included in pic related and because I got into LSD last year before heading off to grad school. Then I had to read the book because I felt too stupid to figure the movie out. Ultimately, it's just my lay interpretation and I was hoping to have meaningful discussion with people about it as I have come to enjoy it after trying to figure out what director and author were trying to illustrate to me.

I have watched every single movie in this list and only half are any good if that many

i honestly never considered it a movie worth discussing or having something to "get", but i was just having a laugh really, i didnt mean to get in the way of your quest for understanding. what exactly does the book clarify that the movie falls short of? brief answer please, not looking to get too deep into it.

It expands on the topic of how lost the generation raised in the rebellious, wild late 60s and early 70s felt after the fact. Thompson makes this message absolutely clear and explicit in his writing whereas the same information is more difficult to extract from the movie without the author specifically telling me what he means.

Does anybody have Midsommar 2018 .exe

I just use it as a movie-suggestion list. I haven't even watched half of them on the list but I figure most of them are probably alright and am willing to give any of them a try.
