you can have computers make it look like stop motion, so what is the point of actually putting the extra work in for the same result? it's like an artist taking a hundred hours to draw a photo-realistic face, just take a picture, it's the same in the end. labor does not intrinsically make something better.

I think that you're a poopy faced loser

aardman still use pure stop motion and even announced chicken run 2 awhile ago

Other than the lego movie, I can't think of any other films that replaced stop motion with cgi to make it look like stop motion

Unfortunately, for the most part.

that's you shithead

yes thank god.

Those chickens looks like they want some feed & seed

Laika Studios is still doing good stop motion work, even though no one went to go see their last movie.

Outside of niche Aardman or Laika films, sadly yes.

This should have won Best Animated. At the very least for Charlie Kaufman's sake.

Will there ever be another Wallace and Gromit kino again?

Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger. It's probably the weakest of the three Ray Harryhausen Sinbad movies, though.

could literally be done with a computer in a fraction of the time

Saw it. Thought it was fine. I don't love either of Wes Anderson's stop motion films (FMF is kind of boring) but appreciate that he's keeping the medium alive.

For some reason big tits are hotter when not overtly displayed

By August 2011, Aardman had been already working on a sequel idea,[46] and by June 2012, a story had been prepared, awaiting Sony to back the project.[47] Eventually, Sony decided not to support the project due to insufficient international earnings. According to Lord, "it got close, but not quite close enough. I was all fired up for doing more. It was such fun to do! We actually have a poster for The Pirates! In an Adventure with Cowboys!. That would have been just great."[48]

early man was definitely slept on. not their best work ever but still very enjoyable

agreed

because they're so big they don't need to be displayed to be seen

As a kid, I thought the stop motion baboon was a real baboon for a decent portion of the movie.

A solid 7 imo, which is actually saying alot

There is literally no reason to make "pretend" stop motion, make full 3D movies or don't. Fake thumbprints are so fucking soulless and pointless

why do the thumbprints need to be there? why does stop motion need to be a thing?

Because it's an artform. Why play an instrument when you can use a computer to program a fake one? Because the actual instrument has character that isn't replicated through soulless technology

I feel like Aardman is unironically tfw to inteligent for american audiences

I mean seriously how many americans will get the football humour in early man or the jokes during the scientific exposition scene in pirates?

>too intelligent
lol what? You fags think caring about Soccer makes you intelligent?

That would be soulless just like you.

No, just inbetween frames.

it will just be a niche thing then, no reason to make big movies like that when only stop motion enthusiast care about it.

>That would be soulless just like you.
Good

bitch they literally had to change the name of the movie from "The Pirates! In an adventure with scientists!" to "Pirates! Band of Misfits!" because americans said they wouldn't want to watch a movie with scientists in it

>British people making stupid changes because of their assumptions means their assumptions are true
fuck off innit

Oh I get it, it will be niche or not made at all. It's too much work for little money. I just hate fucking soulless Lego Movie/Flushed Away bullshit, where they try and make "fake" stop motion.

Flushed Away. Most people didn't even notice it was animated any differently from the rest of Aardman's movies.

flushed away was supposed to be stop motion but the set caught fire, all the models were lost so they had to do it in cgi

At least it was nominated. The Oscars usually ignore animation for adults in favor of the usual Disney/DreamWorks family fare.

>labor does not intrinsically make something better
Yes it does. Soul vs soulless.

>you can have computers make it look like stop motion
You realize it takes way more manhours to do it that way so your argument is moot. 1000s of animators work on those movies as opposed to a team of a few hundred on stop motion films.

It was a mediocre movie that only stood out because of the gimmick of adult animation. The exact same script filmed in live action would have been panned.

Attached: 1565977472054.webm (426x320, 1.82M)

There is no way anyone actually believed that Flushed Away was stop motion.

i member that

not buying that, sorry

Not buying what? Facts? Computer animated movies are made by thousands of underpaid animators working overtime every day you literal twelve year old.

thousands of people? are you can absolute fucking moron? give me a source that says "thousands of people worked on a movie".

>labor does not intrinsically make something better

Ah, I see we have a hippy-dippy postmodernist among us. You probably think a Jackson Pollock is artistically on the same level as the Sistine Chapel as well, eh?

>Ah, I see we have a hippy-dippy postmodernist among us
actually it's the exact opposite you brainlet. value is based on the end result. if there was a machine that could shoot the same exact paintings onto the sistine chapel in an hour, what would be the difference? besides, the difference between the Pollok and the Michelangelo are not the time put into it, but the actual quality of the work, which is not intrinsically tied to labor.
