1958 Hammer classic "Dracula" is Best Dracula Film, and therefore Best Vampire Film. Prove me wrong.

Shadow of the vampire
Vampyr
Let the Right One In

Dracula 1931
Dracula 1992
Nosferatu 1922

Coppola's Dracula
Tarantino's From dusk till dawn
Carpenter's vampires

That's about it

It's like 1/20th of the ideas from the novel that was gradually adapted as the series kept going. It's not that good on its own. Even Lugosi's movie is more self-contained though it's far from the best. If it wasn't for romanticizing Dracula I'd say Coppola's version is the best.

Dracula
Horror of Dracula
Salem's Lot

HM: Nosferatu + Shadow of the Vampire. But since it's pretty much a 2 for 1 deal i won't include them.

Nosferatu the Vampyre
What We Do in the Shadows
Thirst

The issue with adapting Dracula stright from the novel is the strange format that it is written in. Newsclips, letters and outside exposition would be weird as fuck.

Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992)
Fright Night (1985)
Interview with the Vampire (1994)

Nosfratu 1922 is the oldest film that I like on its own merrit without giving it a free pass because it's silent or anything. There are a few good movies I've seen that were produced before 1922 but they are above all historical artifacts you don't enjoy them the way you enjoy good movies from later decades.

I've posted this in other recent vampire threads. I recently rewatched Dracula Dead And Loving It. I adjusted the color and contrast to make it look more like a 1930s film like Young Frankenstein did.

I love the entire series ironically. With Rifftrax of course. There's nothing quite like this.

Mel didn't shoot on color 35 mm and use computers to change it to black and white
