This was the greatest show of all time, prove me wrong.

it's no grace under fire or newsradio but was still enjoyable

comfy

It's top twenty, easily, but not the GOAT. You've got to think:
All in the Family
MASH
Cheers
Taxi
Dick Van Dyke Show

There's your top 5. Lucy fits somewhere in the top 10, along with Newhart, and that's also where you'll start seeing more modern stuff like ER, The Shield, and The Sopranos. The order is up for debate. I could see Northern Exposure definitely being within the 11-15 slot. Comfiest show ever for sure. In that, it's unmatched.

Also, don't expect Yea Forums to give a shit. Yea Forums has such a short memory. It's why all they can talk about is capeshit.

I just really always wanted the old bartender guy to fuck me. No homo tho

Great show for people too stupid for Twin Peaks.

It was better than Twin Peaks.

See what I mean?

Oh thank you so much for your valuable input mr galaxy brain

I thought this was Twin Peaks for years.

>Needs to have surreality thrown into his face because subtlety is just too much for him
ok pal

>yanks think people care about their garbage literally who shows
Listen to me you stupid fucking burger, I. Don't. Know. What. This. Is.

That sounds like a you problem.

Why did you just describe NE?

>Northern Exposure
>Twin Peaks
>Star Trek TNG
Why were the early 90s so fucking comfy lads? Any modern shows with that kind of positive attitude?

This show is much smarter than Twin Peaks while being extremely easy to jump in. Pretentious doesn't equal better

Should have just ended it with Joel going insane and wandering into the woods

>late 80s early 90s show
>Le quirky small town

Eerie Indiana >Twin Peaks

They should've gassed Fleischmann.

That's not nice user :^(

>Into The Spiderverse comes out
>see people on here sperging out about the bagel stuff, tying it to Spider-Man being made Jewish
>mfw it made me realise that the plane scene in the Northern Exposure and all the later scenes of him treasuring bagels wasn't a New York thing, but a Jew thing
All this time I thought the stereotype was that New Yorkers like bagels.

Really just wanted this guy to do me over the bar. What a comfy show. My ultimate fantasy was always to just run away and live a simple life somewhere like Cicely.

Show would have been a lot better if it had a set "beginning /middle /end" and was limited run series
It meanders too much and then the last season sucked

I really like the intro. It takes me back when I had parents, we would watch this together

Downloading the blu ray rips right now bros. Time to rewatch it in quality instead of old dvd rips.

Same, user. I've been watching it with my mother recently and we've bonded over it.

dododoo DAAAAADADADADADADAAHHHHHHHHH (doo doo doo) DAAAAADADADADADADAAHHHHHHHHH (doo doo doo) dodododododododo dododododo dun dun duhhhhhhhh (doo doo doo)

Prove it exists; Where is it streaming?

It's the same reason Joel's character has such detached standoffish relationships with the regular folk in the town. He's a permanent outsider who wants nothing beyond "getting along". It's to the point where the end stage of his character has to become an abstract connection to the place itself, rather than the people he's been with for such a long time. In the final season Phil comes in under similar circumstances, yet while the situation of replacing Joel results in some uneasiness, he still manages to form more down-to-earth if brief understandings with the people there, as an Italian Catholic.
It was never because Joel was a big time new yorker, that was just the dressing.

It actually doesn't stream anywhere, they're super stingy with copyright. You have to buy dvds.

>Main character exist a few seasons into the show
lame desu
Its really comfortable to sit back and watch though. Small town shenanigans usually are.

Meant "exits".
Fuck

It use to air on A&E (i think?), back when TIVO was a thing.

MASH is the only good one there

>all these seething brainlets that got LYNCHED
based user putting retards on blast

This was like a sort of television peak.

>Wake up in the morning
>Look outside
>Cars everywhere, alienated people you don't know the names of
>You'll never know their names because just approaching someone for friendly conversation is seen as weird
>Polution, garbage everywhere
>If you're ever in need of help, no one will chip in to help you, knowing you'd do the same for them
>You couldd die tomorrow and no one in the city you live would know or care
>No close-knit friendly people
>No calming, philosophical radio host
>No bar where everyone comes to chat and knows each other's names
>You'll never live in Cicely, Alaska
>Go back to bed
>Cry

>these mental gymnastics

>MASH
>not based All in the Family

Planning to watch it this fall when I have more time. It better be as good as you make it out to be.

Fall is so perfect. Make cocoa. Prepare for comfy.

Yeah, I was just thinking how this wouldn't really work watching now in the summer.

But you repeat yourself.

>Comfy
>Interesting, human characters
>Respectful portrayals of Native Americans
>Just enough surreality to be a bit odd but not so much it takes away from the humanness of the show
10/10 would be exposed again

>live in small town
>have social phobia so lost contact with the people you knew and now you're the weird loner, no chances to meet new people and work away the social phobia because everybody already knows everybody and they know you as the guy who became a loner after school
I'm moving to the big city just to get that sweet anonymity that gives you more room to play with. Being alienated in a small town is way worse than being alienated in a big city.

I really hope it works out well for you, user. Find your freedom :^)

But it's TRUE. If that pretty girl with the shirt hair would've immediately thrown him in the gas chamber, Ed could've turned his scalp into a lampshade.

Eerie Indiana
Twin peaks
Picket Fences
Northern exposure

When will quirky small town television Kino come back ? Seems like an ideal fit for limited run Netflix /prime / hbo type of series (toss in some magic realism too)

>Shirt hair
It's not true user
If people die in northern exposure it's exclusively by suicide or satellite
