Hellseeker was forgettable as fuck (even with Kirstey back). Inferno was a high-point for me, love the Jacob's Ladder vibe. Also enjoyed how dumb and fun Hellworld was, plus Henriksen does no wrong

Similarities to Jacob's Ladder is exactly why I found Inferno derrivative, hence forgettable. And Hellseeker seemed quite similar in plot to Inferno anyway.
The guys playing Pinhead in the second to last movie was really terrible, but the guy they got in Judgement filled the shoes pretty well, I think.

Hellworld gets too much hate. Yes, Pinhead was reduced as a slasher at this point and the effects were horrible, but I always liked the twist of how everything was an illusion and the Pinhead and the Cenobites were only 'real' at the end of the movie when Lance Henriksen's character opens the box.

If you're going to copy something, might as well make it good. At least it felt like the Cenobites were meant to be there, unlike in 6 or 7.
9 was fucking awful and one the worst films I've ever seen. It's painfully obvious that it was made on a shoestring budget to retain the rights.
10 was decent but not amazing. Tried to take the lore in a weird different direction.

This ranking is pretty fair and objective, but I would rank 3 a little higher mainly because it picks up right after the last film left off which the first four films do pretty well. I don't consider Revelations canon, but it was definitely a piece of trash nonetheless. It shouldn't even exist.

The actual technical prowess of 3 isn't in question. And the first 30 minutes or so are actually pretty good with Pinhead using his dark charms and promises on Monroe. The moment he gets out of the Pillar of Souls and becomes a quipping, one liner spouting slasher villain the movie falls apart. It just crystallises everything that went wrong with the franchise from thereon out for the most part.

That's fair enough, JL is one of my personal favourites so anything with a similar direction is gonna win brownie points for me (even if it does veer into copycat territory). I also thought it did something interesting with the Cenobites and hallucinatory nature of his visions
