most singers figure if a song is easy to sing in c minor (for example) then every song in c minor is in their range

You have the timbre/sound characteristics down... kind of. Like with the pizzicato strings. But you'd definitely benefit from actually learning music theory and actually becoming proficient with an instrument. All in all, you've got potential but if you can't play an actual instrument, say goodbye to your dreams of entering a music school (if that's what you wish to do) unless you decide you want to pay ~80k for Full Sail or something lol.
