Yup. Also, the way that everything is streamlined and even normies are efficient at games like wow now because of years of widely available information. Wow classic was fun because we were all 13 at the time that it came out and really bad plus the internet was still relatively young. Now the average player is going to be 25 with everything crazy optimized and the best guilds in the world will only be bringing 4 classes to every raid. It reminds me of that philosopher that kind of has the same view on the world as the unibomber except that he believed that not only are we slaves to new tech but also to efficiency. It’s like when I try and go back and play fallout NV for fun but even up always optimizing the first few levels of the game by gambling with max luck/implants because I feel like I’m missing out if I don’t. Knowledge is like Pandora’s box and the internet blew it wide open.

It’s not going to be the same magical experience. Everyone has a job now and is in their late 20s. The game will pretty much be solved with all of the info we have today vs how easy the game was back then with 1-2 button rotations. Everyone who wants to not be trash is going to be playing the same three classes.

Played wow for years until it became trash in cata. A lot of the changes to homogenize the classes were lame but the QoL changes that stuff that wrath and bc brought are going to be missed in classic. Lots of zoomers are going to rage at some of the archaic aspects of the classic game.

In terms of wow classic in 2019 most everyone will have had years of playing a much more complex game in current wow. Add with that fact that people now use guides for much more complex games casually and the acceptance of “gaming” culture and you have a recipe for a very basic game being “solved” by current day methods. The average normie looks up rotations, farming guides, min/max their classes and shit which was “hardcore” back in 2006. The wide availability of guides on youtube and threads on perfect rotations (rotations were like 3 buttons max in classic) and the fact that the average player is just much older, more experienced and straight up better at games than your average player in 2006 makes for a cakewalk of a game unless they retune some of the encounters.

tl;dr: Easy and wide access of information along with older/better players and comparatively simple game means it will be a lot different than people remember.
