They only voted Libs because they thought they'd have to pay less tax, and therefore keep more money for themselves. They were never socially conservative, only selfish. Now that climate change is an important issue that may effect the values of their properties (read: not homes), they want a low-tax candidate who also does things about climate change, so that their fears of falling house values are to some degree mitigated. The Libs failed them on climate-change, so now they want neoliberal-leaning candidates who address it.
The only thing that was ever 'conservative' about Warringah was wanting to conserve the amounts in their bank accounts.
