So he can keep his ambition
he wins most of the time
pro wrestling logic. the chase is more exciting than the win. but eventually he should win or else he will stop being a draw.
status-quo
Because he's not Gary
Pokemon can't do power or skill escalation like other shonen shows without switching protagonists every so often.
Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 were the last good games. Gen V was great. Not only for giving us a game with only 1 set of brand new Pokemon, but then giving us a sequel to it. With a great story. Thats actually difficult, fun, and has a great atmosphere town to town.
I havent played a game since pokemon blue when i was 12
He's just an adolescent in the anime.
But his time is coming.
Because this show prints money. Japanese investors are famously squeamish when it comes to altering a winning formula, so Ash must remain forever young. He can't age, so he musn't ever win as winning would force narrative progression.
he has been an adolescent for 20 years
it's confirmed you still need to defeat elite four and champion to win the league
it's laziness on animators part.
>ash was 10 when the anime started
>first episode aired in 1997
>ash would be 32 by now
gens 3-5 are the series low point. the first two gens are god tier and the newer ones are pretty good
would ash be a gen wunner boomer?
That's Red, mate.
>gen wunner boomer
underage detected
Red is shit.
Smell ya later losers.
>a gen wunner boomer?
The same hands that typed this have also paypal'd over $500 to streamers. Think on this.
I'm 26, we're the boomers now
this is why the anime should have used a different MC in each season like the manga and the games do.
Jesus. How braindead do you have to be to swallow the same thing over and over? How long has it even been going on anyway? Decades? Fucking hell...
Gen 3-5 were the golden age and made the games truly great. We will never go back to that peak of the series. You're actually a full on retard if you think blue and red are better than BW2
>How braindead do you have to be to swallow the same thing over and over?
it's different kids watching it for the first time, grown-ups aren't watching fucking pokemon now
I'm almost 28; bask in my ancient knowledge.
the only thing worse is ruby and sapphire
...
That's not Ash. That's KAMEN RIDER FUCKING DRIVE.
Weak bait retard
>h-how could anyone possibly not like my shitty games?
luckily xy and alola are showing a return to form for good pokemon games
...
people born in 2000 are adults now, weird times ahead
Sure there is. You'd be surprised...
Reverse plot armor.
Weak bait tard
I don't watch the show; I am simply providing you with an answer. Why is your post so confrontational?
I heard there was some really big controversy cause he didn't win some competition or something (I don't follow Pokémon). Sound like a wasted opportunity. Why not turn it into a positive message like 'not everyone can be number 1, but look at what you can do with hard work'?
He's a self-insert, loser.
It wasn't meant to be.
because
Yeah, I get that. But it seems to me like they could still keep the status quo and not have it blow up like it did. Like I said, I don't even follow Pokémon and still heard about this.
>But it seems to me like they could still keep the status quo and not have it blow up like it did.
I agree. I don't think a single win would really shake things up all that much. But, like I say, the Japanese absolutely refuse to change once they've got something that works.
because the story is utter shot and has no potential outside of "oh no! the protagonist isn't the best! tune in next week to see if he does become the best xd (he won't)"
>Ash is a loser.
>t. Gary Oak
Twenty years on or more, and Gary was always right.
Pokémon really is the worst anime
So much potential and it all sucked
Why they're still using ash and team rocket 20 years later is beyond me. Surely they could generate more interest with new characters
Doesn't work in Japan. Remember when Toriyama tried to make Gohan the protagonist? And then there's the Phoenix Wright games.
>So much potential and it all sucked
This. You have a show about magic animals who have power over the elements and all you can think to do is "battle" with them each episode? Fucking awful.
I guess that’s why their stock market is at the same level it was at in 1980
Ash should have won 5 or 6 years ago. That's when his original demographic was firmly out of "watching Pokemon" age. There could be a new protagonist, with Ash having a minor side-story of his travels as Champion. We see him battling international crime and getting involved in big tournaments etc while the new MC goes on his journey. The end of the MCs journey is him beating the Elite 4 (who can include characters from the OG series for fan service) and facing Ash. Maybe he loses the first time in a twist and has to try again. Or maybe he beats his mentor. Dunno.
Pokemon could have been one of the best "sports anime" to have ever been fucking created if it followed that format. Even Hajime no fucking Ippo does progression better.
Ahahaha and the japs are supposed to be smart???
>That's when his original demographic was firmly out of "watching Pokemon" age
So 5-6 years ago men in their mid to late 20's were still watching pokemon?
probably terrified to make that big of a change desu, they lucked into huge success, safer not to mess with the winning formula
it's for young children, it doesn't need to be deep
PIKACHU
USE THUNDER ON THOSE KIDS
>We see him battling international crime and getting involved in big tournaments etc while the new MC goes on his journey.
does ash finally defeat the jews
I loved the pokemon cards, but hated the show. Digimon anime was superior, yet the cards weren't as good. Yugioh card game was the best and the show was ok.
I liked one of the various pokemon brews for acknowledging Ash's progress as a pokemon trainer. He was much older and became the World Pokemon Grandmaster. He didn't play much of a role in the game if I recall, but it was nice to see that he became what other young trainers aspired to be.
>Ash, I-I notice that you've been spending a lot of time of Pchan
>N-no, it's not that big a deal
>It's just that you've caught 800 Weezing in the last two weeks and you nickname them all Zyklon C...
Didn't he actually win the most recent league tho?
did he pound that?
He was the runner-up, which is actually the furthest he's ever gotten in a league.
This is the Japanese mindset, yes. Better safe than sorry in all cases. we're talking about a people who have automated even the process of conversation to a few stock phrases. When Japanese people enter a store, they all say the same thing. When Japanese people go out for drinks, they all say the same thing. When Japanese people want to express delight over some new food they've just eaten, they all say the same thing. Every social interaction is prescribed, at least initially.
what a loser faggot
>watching the anime after the 4kids shittery of replacing the VA's
Only spics watch it now, just like DBZ and MHA.
Marty or Gary Stu are very uninteresting protagonists indeed
Well MAYBE if he kept the same Pokémon instead of switching them every generation he'd have a chance.
He won the battle frontier. That's harder than the league in the games.
morty stu
Did that small elephant just paralyze that kid?
He’s a hapless moron so that kids can feel better about being one themselves when playing Pokémon and actually somehow losing a battle in the game.
It’s 100% impossible unless you’re retarded or matched against another human.
They should have switched with gold and silver but being the fuckwits that they are? Hey let’s have this asshole be ten years old forever because fuck stories this is lambchop’s playalong for Japanese kids and apparently us.
All Pokémon after red and blue look lazy and unimaginative. Yeah, Gen 2 had some alright ones. But everything else since then is just blobs with random color schemes and tacked on lightning bolts/leafs/bubbles/spikes/random geometric shapes. Anyone MAN (that's what you are past the age of 18) who still plays Pokémon belongs into a giant shredder, along with the niggers, kikes, spics and jannies of this world.
Who is Anyone MAN?
>1997 was 40 years ago
There’s a term for it in practical effects departments where you’re basically just putting random shit from airplane model kits onto something so that it looks more grungy and interesting.
Greebles.
