What is Post-Lovecraftiana? Until I write an essay establishing it further, let's frame it as a genre that the author could not envision fully, but that is tied to some of his miscegenation concepts come to fruition.

It is slightly different from Lynchian perspective because it does not attempt to have artistic merit but instead is satisfied with existing as a spectacle (a word similar to 'tentacle' which is not accidental). Instead of marble clad, slanting cyclopean cities you have a concrete suburban framework moving from parking lot to suburban housing to parking lot to mega malls. Sugar is the spice of life and around you waddle shoggoths and corporate cultists obscuring any discourse that would challenge the multicultural society making leaps and bounds towards its ultimate goal. What that goal exaclty is represents the fundamental tenet of this nascent genre.

There's another thing. Most of American tv shows and movies are structured like an Isis video (this goes for video games as well) given the puritan nature of the country. You have that movie with Joaquin Phoenix (pic related) where the theme revolves around sexual degeneracy but the movie sidesteps the subject visually completely, and focuses on closeups of bashed heads, spilled viscera and the like. Stuff like Blue Ruin and Green Room follow this trend and uphold chastity while engaging in carnage with glee.

Glee is another Post-Lovecraftiana in its core but I did not follow it enough to give examples.

One of the things they do as a disservice to Lovecraft is that he was, and always will be, a product of his time, environment, and the like. Put in his shoes, living his life verbatim, they'd have been the same - the thing they will not address, the concept wouldn't compute it were forced upon them.

They're a product too. Lovecraft, living their lives, in exact detail, would be them.

They also miss something important about Lovecraft's journey. He grew. His life started out one way, and gradually became something else. As he became less sheltered, more social, and took in more experiences, what had been ingrained in him prior, lessened.

The horrible, unforgivable, racist monster . . . softened. Changed. Became a more open and accepting person, for the context of his time.

Can they do the same? Accept him for who he was, where he was, how he was, when he was? No. Could they learn this with time and experience, as he did? Time will tell.

Post-Lovecraftiana is the coating of reality that is close to a complete inversion of much of what Lovecraft considered horrific. It is perverse grandiosity of Walmart when compared to Kadath. I guess conceivably, you could build a mechanism that could launch projectiles from the moon to Earth, but it would take some doing, and you'd have to account for things burning up in the atmosphere.

It would be prohibitively expensive and would make more sense to just launch from Earth orbit so they don't have to fight the moon's gravity.
