Obligatory lovely ladies
Did people in the film industry simply have better taste in women then? Where did it all go so wrong?
#metoo
Based grugposter
Grug love pretty girls
Come back to cave with Grug
Not everyone in Hollywood was a flaming homosexual back then. Not to say there weren't fags around, but it wasn't anything like it is now.
AHHHHHHHHHHH
>Where did it all go so wrong?
the gays
Modern hollywood worships the grotesque
Blonde girl is fucking gorgeous
me in the back
>im already rock hard, babe
Hoped there would be nudes, no luck
*creak*
That's racist!
spooky
God, imagine her crawling all over you like that
*throws rock at poster*
Andromeda a cute. Acute I said.
>Harryhausen kino thread. Post best monsters and girls.
This is why I love this board, anons.
I'm just a simple Boomer who saw these based boobies on the TV this afternoon, and made a mental note to check IMDB to add them to my spank bank.
But what should I see while scrolling on the pot, you beautiful bastards already got me covered.
Cheers, anons.
Never change.
I'm a self-proclaimed Zoomer and I love these creature effects and the subsequent boobies.
look closely at her brassiere when she spots the dino
I could barely get through the Starcrash episode of the recent Mystery Science Theater 3000 season because of her. It's hard to pay attention to jokes when you're spending almost the entire time with a throbbing erection.
Indeed
diamonds
Looks better than modern cgi
oh god. oh no.
I love Harryhausen, but the stop motion effects in Clash of the Titans always seemed way out of date for when the movie came out. By comparison, Dragonslayer came out the same year.
All of these movies have given me such a fetish for cave women
I prefer this Medusa desu
Vermithrax wasn't solely stop-motion though - they did a combo of that and some puppet work. Her movement looks very Dark Crystal/Labyrinth-esque in some scenes.
Even though it is blatantly special effects, why does it feel more "real" than CGI? Is it because your brain can tell that the stop motion models actually physically existed?
Showing some love for the Juvenile Allosaurus from 1 Million Years B.C
>boobs hanging out in a G rated movie
[ Calcium intensifies ]
They look like mermaids.
That SFX holds up. There's CGI still which can't touch it 50 years later.
THAT'S a lost art.
Even though the Argonauts scene is more spectacular cos there's loads of them, this scene is the better actual swordfight since it's one on one on a set, and Sinbad's actor was a little more versed in stage fighting and choreographed out the fight himself, for Harryhausen to animated over.
What movie is that?
>Yea Forums goes to the beach
it feels realer than modern CGI because your brain is filling in the gaps for the older effects. it's so not real that your brain knows it and fills it in for you.
modern CGI is incredibly close to real life, but there are tiny things wrong and this makes our brain go like: "this feels wrong. it's fake"
>Casting agencies will never hire beautiful women like this ever again
Because your brain knows that the material from which that stop motion was made is real and tangible.
With CGI there's literally nothing, it's all artificial, a ghost. The brain doesn't have a frame of reference to perceive CGI stuff as a real life object
She's a big girl.
When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth.
Agreed. I love when the skeleton throws the shield at him and they interact with the scenery.
It’s that and the lighting
There are plenty of comparable effects from the period that don’t look NEARLY as good because the lighting and contrast doesn’t match and it looks like it was awkwardly pasted into frame
They took great pains to simulate the lighting in the room as well as recreate the floor (so it cast shadow appropriately) on what was obviously a scale object no taller than 12 inches
the effects team probably also used the same filmstock as the principal photography crew so it would match better
the fact that it's just standing its ground instead of doing flashy anime moves is what makes it look strong
spooky
It's not that. Or not just that. With CGI, the effects are so overblown that you know CGI was used. One of the great things about older movies is the restraint.
that too
Why do stop-motion always looks good? It has a special charm to it. The skeleton fight in Jason and the argonauts is probably the most impressive thing I've seen in any movie. How the fuck did they pull that shit off?
Patience and an eye for detail while being good at animating armature models.
Speaking of stop-mo, do you guys know Harryhausen's predecessor?
youtube.com
nice! i'm in my last year animation specializing in stop motion and i freaking love this.
based czech movies
Some your work.
judi bowker is a goddess.
agreed. it's used in everything.
Nothing will ever surpass her. THE gold standard cavegirl
They analyze things frame by frame after every shot. Wes Anderson and Nick Park are keen to keep it alive.
>Lighting
This is the most important part. Every VFX artist tells you this.
First good thread I have seen on Yea Forums in over 3 months
Why does it look so good, bros, and why did we stop doing this?
>Did people in the film industry simply have better taste in women then?
>Why does it look so good
Because the best were doing it
>why did we stop doing this?
Because CGI is cheaper and takes less time. Stop motion really isn't something you can just throw money at and it will go faster.
>>Sorry Phil, looks like you're extinct.
1993 happened.
This and nepotism. Basically everyone involved in movies is somebody's friend, lover, cousin or child. Also, there are far less movies being made than in the golden years.
>CGI cheaper
Bullshit. Have you ever looked at the wall of visual effects artists names at the end of movies with tons of CG effects? They didn't do that for free.
Most of them are going to be monkeys doing monkey's jobs
Phil helped the 3d animators because they knew fuck all about dino movement. but yes you are right.
One thing that I think CGI misses is the fact that creatures sometimes move with some jerkiness, sudden movements, not entirely smoothly
I love this shit, and Clash of the Titans too. Something about the stop motion that makes these monsters otherworldly and more scary because of it.
Blonde qt nearly broke her nose on the rocks
Biggest irony is, with today's technology, they could be doing god-tier stop motion. Not saying that CGI doesn't have a place at all in today's cinema, but it's just dishonest and empty in comparison.
Is there any modern example? I'm not even sure what god tier stop motion looks like.
Stop motion aside, if that shiva fight were done today it'd definitely be more gruesome, that's for sure.
Lego Movie is CGI
The shot of the dragon coming out of the cave mouth blew me away when I watched this for the first time not too long ago. Along with how fucking good Jurassic Park STILL looks it's so sad to see how lazy our special effects have become. Multi million dollar shit like Black Panther is shocking.
Still ends up being way more expensive than stop motion.
CGI with restraint is still top tier. Jurassic Park STILL hasn't been beaten.
And it looks like it's CGI
People weren't listening to women screaching about unrealistic standards back then.
They're being paid peanuts. Most CG effects companies get hired for one movie and go under.
>General Kenobi!
Kubo and the two strings
Shit stiry with half decent animation. Terribly overrated. Only blown up because it was "indie" and muh practical effects.
That film is so 'alright'. Everyone kept going on about how it deserved the oscar, and what we got was complete mediocrity, an indie film trying to be a hollywood blockbuster complete with a predictable, generic story about blandness
i would explore her cave of wonders if you sniff my whiff
Holy cow what a leg!
That is indeed a reference.
I had nightmares about this guy
Can they be remastered in any great way?
Time is money.
Feminists got in on Hollywood and men like Weinstein have absolutely shit taste in women, it’s that simple.
0% chance disney is willing to lose china
Quintessential English posh bird
Oh shit, woman on the right is the double of my touchy feely aunt Helen!
Then we must kill feminism
all these old movies are amazing on bluray
I only ever watched them on grainy TV growing up, seeing them I'm now I'm positive that Hollywood has gone downhill in terms of casting actresses
It’s really annoying when women in film & tv now look like utter pigs compared to these women but they always get the Mary Sue treatment as if they’re solid 10s.
my girl dr.Quinn with the long hair
>Disney robbed us of more big budget Selick stop motion kino
Beautiful long neck
There are people who claim something like this "could never be done without CGI"
*sweats*
>>Because CGI is cheaper and takes less time
This is bullshit
literally perfection
eve in the garden of eden
Yes,just like anything shot on good film.
