I've never seen a James Bond film, what are some good ones to start with?

I'm a little bias because I grew up with Pierce Brosnan 007, so I'd say watch his films first (you can skip Die Another Day) and then watch Casino Royale, which is probably my favorite film. It, QoS, and Skyfall are just great.

I watched The World Is Not Enough today and I really liked it.

Moonraker, Tomorrow Never Dies and Skyfall are lesser kino, but still good. Particularly the first two.

Start with the first 4 movies (Thunderball is especially good). Skip You Only Live Twice and Diamonds are Forever. If you want a fever dream then watch On Her Majesty's Secret Service.
Live and Let Die, Man With the Golden Gun, Spy Who Loved Me and Octopussy are the good Roger Moore ones (the others can be skipped, though View to a Kill does have Christopher Walken as the villain so that almost makes up for Moore being way too old for the role by that point).
Living Daylights and Licence to Kill are top tier kino (Dalton is best Bond). Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies are good, skip the other Brosnan ones. Casino Royale is kino, Quantum of Solace is a boring plot filmed like the Bourne Supremacy, Skyfall is good, Spectre was well directed but had a horrible script.

If you're bored and have time to spare you can watch Goldeneye and Moonraker. If you watch only these three you'll be able to walk away and not think Bond movies are complete dogshit. Watch any more and you're fucked.

there's one where a bunch of people read a picture book titled 'what else is new in the world of alzheimers and dementia' and very meaningfully misinterpret all of the images then get extremely confused and upset and run around screaming about spray painting animals indescribably painful to watch but very true to life in my honest opinion

I think Thunderball suffers in its climax by dragging the big underwater set piece out. The underwater filming technology was revolutionary at the time, but for modern viewing it doesn't impress as much as it hurts the pacing.

Saw it a month or two ago. I think it aged remarkably well and is pretty fast paced considering the time it came out. It got criticism when it was released, because of the reason you stated. But I think it's very impressive. Pretty violent too.

the first four are all pretty solid kinos. Those are the only ones I've seen though

They're all pretty self-contained for the most part. I do recommend watching the first few films to understand their footprint in popular culture; they still hold up as some of the best anyway.

Bond is a white man with dark features. Daniel Craig is a blonde and a pussy. Sean "give a woman a nice slap" to Daniel "refugees welcome" Craig.

Well, I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's certainly been a lot longer ago for me, so my recollection is hazier, but my impression is that, while the action is perfectly snappy, it's all spectacle and the fight puts a halt to the forward motion of the plot for a long time.

Craig is the worst Bond. His films have been influenced too much by Bourne films. All of his flicks are just generic violent spy films without any charm or humor.
