One question for Mask connoisseurs,

Can someone explain me the "ID not IV" joke? English is not my native language, but as far I know ID sounds completely different from IV, specially D and V, it's not like it was "ID not IT".

Also why IV? First I don't think children can know what an IV is and in the case they do they usually don't know how the object is called (but they recognize it), also why are young children supposed to relate to an IV? At that age most experiences with IV would be traumatic.

Common misconception. He was actually saying Eye-D and Eye-V. Eye-D being the name of the company he works for and Eye-V being a related company, see both offices are right next to each other so to avoid workers going to the wrong parties they need to present their Eye-D or Eye-V papers. In a stunning display of comedy, the son of the mask pulls out an IV, making both the joke that he misheard Eye-D as Eye-V, and that he then misheard Eye-V as a medical IV. Both these jokes target a younger and older audience which makes sure the joke can be understood by a wide range of people. This is also why the son of the mask wears the mask, it's a revolutionary eye correction device which can help people with bad eyesight see, when he takes it off at the start he accidentally produces the IV because he has trouble seeing. Why the son of the mask has been chosen to wear this experimental device is plainly shown when he actually produces his Eye-D. He is the company mascot.

baneposting reached critical mass long ago, now it shows up from time to time in a welcome fashion. it ascended as all good things should.

It blows my mind that this joke was included in the movie. All it comes down to is the mask mistaking one word for another and pulling out a prop. It's the sort of joke you'd expect to come up in the writer's room only for them to immediately decide it's too weak and toss. At best it's a filler joke that's just there to take up some time with something the audience recognizes as a joke even if 98% aren't going to laugh at it. But not only did it make it in, it was the introduction for the zany character of the mask.

Friendly reminder I will never ever watch that episode or that scene.
