Matt Le Tiss and Gazza are the most talented but they fucked it up.
There's never really been a point in the time I've been alive when an English player has been the absolute best in the world at their position apart from Ashley Cole, but he's a left back. Shearer? Rooney (despite his shite international career)? Charlton? Moore?
It's weird, England are obviously better, but the surrounding British Isle states seem to have produced players who shone brighter than any English player. Rush, Dalglish, Best, Bale.
That's what I thought. The best two British players ever were both Welsh, John Charles and Bale. Very odd when you think about it
