Until I saw Apocalypse Now, I used to think there is not "absolute best film of all time". And then I realized like I was shot with a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought, "My God, the genius of that. The genius." Perfect, genuine, complete, crystalline, pure.

Godfather paints an incredibly over-romanticized view of this thing of ours. Even in LCN's hayday it was never like it was shown to be in the Godfather.
Goodfellas depicts the reality and is the better movie for it.
