Takeshi's Castle was absolutely the comfiest game show I've ever watched, the fact that it looks like it was made with a budget of fifty yen just made it better.
Xavier Carter
What version of passe partout were you watching? And why is Passe Carreau such a FUCKIN TEASE?
Julian Gray
The Genius. Every episode is a convoluted social/board game. The events are usually shown from the perspective of one of the alliances/characters (all groups are unofficial and form organically due to game strategies, there are no enforced alliances) and then they either play it straight or drop a big twist and show you the events from a different perspective how they were fucked from the get go because of some other players actions. The editing makes this show amazing. They craft suspenseful story-lines with big twists out of unscripted material. The entire first season is subbed on youtube and the rest can be easily found on the internet.

Where did they manage to find all the midges? I haven't watched it in like 10 years but I swear they used different dwarfs every episode, and they're pretty rare, so where were they getting them all from?

Dude it went for years and years here in Norway too. I see on wikipedia it aired in 28 different countries, probably with unique versions. I remember the old guy in the tower with the riddles, and of course the dwarves walking the stairs with tremendous difficulty.
