Should stuntmen be given their own category at the Oscars?
I don’t see what the issue is here

Tom Cruise would always win
We should have way less categories.
Doesn't Jackie Chang do his own stunts?
Sure why not
They are unironically hard working people
I think they give too much importance to the oscars when we know for a fact that the people that vote for the winners have on record say they don't watch them all so even if they got their own category it would be little more than a joke.
What Tom does isn't really stuntwork. Hes not crashing cars at high speeds or tumbling down a flights of stairs. The shit he does reminds me of a David Blaine act more than anything
They're not going to because it's gonna expose "people" like Brie Larson, who claim to do their stunts alone
Getting paid is their fucking category, also if they want attention from the rich fucks in the Oscars just be trannies or black.
they should have their own category; a great stunt is life threatening and often well remembered
Zoe Bell needs an award for the car shit she did in Death Proof
youtube.com
she clung on to a car hood with no support whatsoever whilst it was driving at ludicrous speed and occasionally being shunted by another car, it's fucking ridiculous
Fake titles are a joke. Even in Fury Road Immortan Joe had a fucking nokia phone on his chest as a medal. It's all fake
Stunt men/women do all the heavy lifting in modern flopbusters. Actors are almost irrelevant (unless the project is 100% a vehicle for "x" person, which most now are)
1. Oscars lost any meaning, importance and value long time ago. Boasting that you got an Oscar, Emmy, Nobel or Pulitzer in this day and age is like boasting that you are beautiful because your mother told you so.
2. I'm pretty sure Oscars are going to reduce number of categories they have, since it's a normie show, and those people care only for actors, sometimes directors, and inclusion politics ofc.
If the hair and makeup people have one I don't see why not
How do you boycott something you're not invited to in the first place?
It's an industry awards ceremony so I don't see why not. Good luck to them.
Sound designers, makeup artists, and whatever gets an oscar, so I don't see a problem with those doing the stunts.
There's no reason not to.
They used to be above explosions and pratfalls, now they give out awards to capeshit and artless drivel in the name of diversity, so why not?
Absolute socialist stupidity. Stuntmen are low-ranking tools and nothing more. Yeah, you can't make certain movies without them, but that's also the case with production assistants or the guys who carry equipment. Are you going to give THEM Oscars if they decide to boycott Hollywood? You can't make the movie without them now, can you?

movies cant be successful without me watching them
give me an oscar
I would say that stuntmen and practical effects artists deserve their own legitimate awards show that has nothing to do with marketing or political ego stroking.
no neither should women
Makeup takes creativity. And even then, the Oscar usually goes to the designer and not the underpaid blonde who actually applies the makeup
good bait
They get paid for their work, the oscars are just a frivolous extra for vain people.
