No I'm saying Bethesda literally canonically destroyed Morrowind in a giant disaster and made all the dunmer refugees during Skyrim.

Both Morrowind's and Conan's "Dagoth" may have been inspired by "Dagon" from Lovecraftian lore (Robert E. Howard was a personal friend of Lovecraft), which in turn took it from the ancient Mesopotanian god of agriculture "Dagon".

But neither the movie's, nor the game's Dagoth are in any way whatsoever amphibian or related to water. I don't think there's a Dagon connection.

I think that Skyrim and Oblivion were so bad in comparison to Morrowind precisely because of its' brilliance, which brought massive success to Bethesda, and thus a lot of fans which made them greedy for more. Thus 'streamlining', dumbing down, feature removal to broaden the
target audiences more and more. TES 6 will be even worse.
That seems to be the trend with every major media today, most prominently the Disney Wars.

If they actually stuck to the fucking lore then yes, Tamriel is full of weird shit, albeit less on the "alice in wonderland giant mushroom" variety. Valenwood, as described in the lore, sounds fucking amazing but we will never see giant moving jungle cities, because even if the technology could support such a concept, Bethesda's creative department can't be trusted with putting something "out-there" in their games anymore. They're just playing the safe route because why bother risking failure when you know your next main line TES game will sell millions of copies regardless? Why do you think they chose Hammerfell? It's probably the most mundane of all provinces in Tamriel, it's 50% deserts and 50% non-snowy mountains. Even if that place had some really cool environmental or cultural twists, you saw what they did with the Cyrodiil province (it was supposed to be a lush jungle but they turned it into generic Medieval Europe land). They'd just dumb it down so the lowest common denominator dumdum doesn't get too alienated from their mainstream RPG game's setting.
