I'm watching Breaking Bad for the first time and are these what actual houses look like in America? Wtf? They look like mud huts. I think I remember there were more of these huts in a scene with Jesse and Jane
I'm watching Breaking Bad for the first time and are these what actual houses look like in America? Wtf...
that's just new Mexico architecture
There is literally no reason for houses to look like this
It's called an adobe house, but something like that would just be brown plaster to look like adobe. It's architecture from the Native Americans in the southwest US and a lot of people like the way it looks.
well pardon us

Pick 2
We're honoring the First Nations™ you bigot.
What are these sticks coming out of the walls?
timbers that hold the roof up? I understand Americans are

but adobe houses are cool and nothing you can say will convince me otherwise.
Southwestern US architecture. Inspired by Mexican mud huts.
this is actually a privileged home, most houses there are built out of wood and are basically blown away by a big storm every 10 years or so
Europooors seething that Americans don't live in Block apartments.
handy sticks for hanging Christmas lights and potted plants
>Dude, why do Americans have varied architectural styles instead of all living in soulless concrete comblocs like they do in my country.
It's Pueblo Revival style you tard, it's built the exact same on the inside as literally every other first-world house. It calls back to how the Spaniards copied injun dwellings that were built that way because of the heat and lack of good timber.
The execution there is pretty butchered, but there are reasons why a house in the desert would use adobe/rammed earth.
There are 4 seasons of Walt's house that look nothing like that before you see Hank's house. You also see a fucking mansion that belongs to Gretchen, crack houses, and Jesse's apartment that are not adobe. But good bait I guess you got all these people to give you real answers.
>his country isn't vast enough for different regions to have different architectural styles
You think your beaner mud huts have more character than my county's houses?
Lol, Americans are the ones with soulless housing, adobe and the like 5 different regional styles they stopped making 100 years ago aside
They're not really mud huts, the exterior shell is typically made of chicken wire and plaster.
>house literally about to fall down at any minute
The house in the OP looks quite a bit more interesting, yeah
American architecture fucking sucks dick. I'm always jealous when I go to Europe and see all the pretty towns and old cities full of stone buildings and really interesting, cool architecture everywhere (unless it was bombed in WW2 in which case it's worse than America). I don't know what it is. American architects just suck, I guess, because it really is bad.
>live in a hellhole like new mexico where its always 100 degrees
>wear jackets
america has the largest variety of home architecture in the world because it is a large nation with vastly different environments and many different cultural influences.
Should houses in alaska look like houses in florida? should houses in the deserts look like houses in the pacific north west rain forests? should north eastern mountain valley homes in areas with hot summers and frozen winters have the same type of houses found in beach front communities in temperate middle-california?
OP is a brainlet.
Good thing america is a rich country and has better timber than hundreds of years ago, right?
those a specific thing for that region of the country
theres a reason its called new MEXICO
you should see the houses in australia. I will never understand how such insanity was accepted and what class of 'architect' created the 60's-90's styles
Not in the deserts

Being an american is amazing
northern new mexico is like colorado
I live in Albuquerque. This is likely not even adobe, probably regular framed construction with a stucco exterior. Mostly a stylistic choice as most houses in the city have this exterior "look".
It is, for mostly the wrong reasons.
thanks for the pic, loved Hank's house; Adobe style is fantastic, everything looks like a compound... kinda like desert brutalism even though it's much closer to art deco.
Like I said, anything built after like 1930 is built the fucking same on the inside. It's plaster and brickwork exterior with plywood, finished pine lumber, and drywall interiors.
What style was that? Like Neighbours bungalow style? They look comfy as fuck
People in my country build better summer houses than what americans live in on the regular, and we are borderline third world tier
Not only that, they rarely have anything other than a soulless patch of grass on front of the house, or in their backyard, no flowers, no trees, no potted plants, no bushes, nothing, no individuality whatsoever, just endless rows of identical houses and plots of land
That looks like a giant air conditioner.

Please explain for a non-burger friend
That architecture is characteristic of traditional New Mexico style homes. This particular example might be a standard wood-stud shitbox that just tries to copy the aesthetic with stucco but the original adobe homes were built with mud-bricks and were very durable in dry climates. They also were perfect for the harsh climates in the high desert due to that material’s high thermal mass. I.e keeps the interior cool in the summer and warm in the winter. They are more susceptible to earthquake damage though.
I WILL KILL UR INFANT DAUGHTER
>a country will better homes than America that is borderline third-world tier
Where? The only countries I can think that fit the border line 3rd world description is Brazil and Russia, neither of which have better homes.
Brutalism is fucking gay and only faggot incels like it.
It's not that they suck as much that it's about cost.. Bidding wars to get the job for the lowest price imaginable.
There's no honor in the game of architecture anymore.. It's simply about meeting deadlines and budget.
Hrs probably middle eastern
get fucked cunt, tiled roofs are sick as
Our country is 50x bigger than most of yours, don't pretend you have seen 1% of what our houses look like. What an idiotic, useless, "observation" you made about US homes.
I've always wondered how you get on top of those bikes
uhhh that looks like shit
house that looks like a dumbass or a child built it
i imagine you don't believe in global warming, but the increased temperatures stress the trees much more so the timber is a lot worse now
sup fellow burque bro
The house style is cool to me, I like the "pueblo" architecture in the southwest, the infrastructure and city planning is a different story though.
christmas lights in arid climate automatically look trashy
I lived in New Mexico for a few months. They had "dobes" which were abodes made of clay. They looked soft but they were hard. Kids made penis comparisons all day.
based
it's weird because it's made for bottoms
america is fuck huge dude. imagine all of europe being one country. thats fucking america.
dilate
>tfw live in new mexico
>i'm an autist so i wear jackets september-june anyway
Its hot, but it's dry. So you can stay cool just by not letting the sun hit your skin.
I went to Phoenix in January for a bowl game a few years ago, it was in the mid 60s and sunny the whole time, and all of the locals were wearing coats and wool hats while all of us tourists were in shorts and t-shirts. I was pretty weird.
