Custom movie shelves I built. I have 1,355 blu-rays with space for about 1,500

Nice, I made a home gym.

I made an actual life for myself instead

20x1355=27100

And Americans be like: hey government increase my wage I can barely afford to live.

Fucking rekt

i spot a lot of trash movies so who cares how many you have

But if you insert a blu-ray into her slit, does it play a film?

How wait, you don't have any blu-raaaays, loser!

my dad probably has more than $40k in movies at his house it's fucking stupid

As another collector of physical media, rarely have I paid mors than 5 bucks for a movie. Hunting out deals in the wild at pawn shops, garage sales, etc is part of the fun and I'll never need to be chained to a subscription service to watch my favorite films & tv shows

>buying physical that will be outdated and is not even analog
lol

if you want to watch a movie, you search it for 15 minutes. I'm downloading it in 5, then putting it on usb drive and sticking into tv set in another 5. Also, i don't spend money on bullshit.

Blu-rays are the pinnacle, the quality is good enough that anything better like 4K even is nothing compared to the difference between SD and HD, I'd happily watch 1080p the rest of my life.

Did you ever have a disc breaking inside the player? And some films are only available in DVD.

rent-free

I said the same about dvds back in the day. 8k will be the end all because its movie theater quality

yeah but is it really needed? No, HD is fine, fuck 4k gimmick.

If there were no bluray collecting chads out there uploading their movies you wouldn't have this luxury.

You do know that nearly all movies are mastered in 2k, right? Unless there's a big push from Hollywood to increase the fidelity of their films or you just want to watch purely 70mm films all your life, the benefits of 8k are fairly disappointing.

SD is fine if it's a good transfer

yeah for old stuff

Those are UK blurays

That's even worse; same number, but with price in sterling pounds.

HD is fine but 35mm film is about 8k when the scan a digital master so its exactly what the filmmaker intended. For all the shitty marvel flicks that are recorded on digital 4k cameras and use tons of cgi it doesn't really matter but if I can get a classic film I want it as close to film quality as possible.

buying stranger things is pure cringe

I understand collecting is addicting. But what do you do once the industry has moved on to the next device or format?

Do people who once had huge DVD collections just throw them out and re-buy everything on BR? And once that's gone also, repeat the cycle?

>harry potter
"No!"

Massive diminishing returns in my eyes, I can't tell the difference between watching 2160p and 1080 apart from the file sizes

??? wat
Movie theater quality is 2k.

It that was me, I would buy new titles in the new format. And maybe replace the ones I could with deals.
But instead I decided it was a rat race and dropped everything for torrents. Watch and delete.

> watch purely 70mm films all your life
I would be okay with this. Having and 8k scan would be like owning the actual film reel and for movies like Lawrence of Arabia I would like to have it in the highest possible quality. I'll just buy a blu-ray for anything shot digitally. The star wars prequels were shot in 1080p so no point getting a 4k/8k disk of that

>on VHS

If you go to a theater with digital projectors than yes it probably is but the original film projectors would give you a equivalent of 4k or 8k.

Bro,just torrent

>custom shelves
>Literally a few 3/4" 4" width boards screwed together, sagging in the middle

disgusting

I collect Vhses but had to slow it down bc they’re cheap and available so it got too crowded too fast. It’s a pointless thing to spend your money on but I haven’t gone broke from it or even close bc vhses are dirt cheap, also like another user said it’s fun randomly finding something in a thrift store or something that you actually want. I also love getting stoned and watching the old versions of these movies and generally aim for 80s stuff. Just found Tango and Cash the other day for a buck or something

and yet you post here

Are you fat?

of course he would buy the meme version

>bro, just be poor and degenerate. Like me.

>alphabetized

OBSESSED

How can downloading something for free make you poor? It’s buying all these DVDs that makes you poor.

>not just stealing the bluray box out of a rental, and burning your own bluray from a BDMV and sticking it in there
Yikes

what rental store still keep their disks inside the display copy? my blockbuster didnt even do that 10 years ago

They dont
Thats why you just steal the box for the box art, and burn your own bluray

oh thats mybad i read your sentence wrong lol

i get mine from russians stealing blurays and spending days encoding them on their old PC while getting drunk on vodka. really good encoding they do. no bullshit either, you ask for a movie and the will get it provided they aren't too busy.
