Cracking post, Gromit.
What the hell was his problem?
This channel is full of brit-kino.
A chicken raging at his baldness.
Master Windu, why don't you come in? We were just about to have some cheese.
Great thread lads. I'm going to watch Wallace and gromit this weekend now
*clang*
Was Early Man good? I might watch it this weekend.
Best thread on tv
Why does this series have such creepy villains anyway? Even the robot from Grand Day Out who turned out to be not that bad was unsettling.
WE'VE FORGOTTEN THE CRACKERS
.......
Sad but true
Ooh, a Wallace and Gromit thread, on Yea Forums??
because aardman know how to produce memorable characters
I think I'll make my own porridge today.
>Wallace and Gromit soundtrack will never be officially released due to rights issues
Based character
.........
>Malf-what?
Ironic how he's an inventor but he's never heard of the term 'malfunction'
Or at least not in relation to what he thought was a dog
HUuuah....huuuaah....huuuah...
daily reminder that he's still up there
But he's having a great time skiing.
Always loved the vaguely eerie, sinister world they lived in. The empty streets and sunlit avenues. Wrong Trousers is so kino
he was on the egg bell m8 he hasent skiied anywhere in 50 years
baaas in rural English
>Shaun barely reaching the handlebars
Chicken Run > Original W&G > Shaun The Sheep > Were-Rabbit > Early Man
Slightly lost in the Wererabbit movie when they have a film sized budget and scale and there's loads of other characters now instead of the minimalist cast of just W+G and the guest character or two.
What time of day was this scene supposed to be at?
Looks like sunlight but the next scene (museum) is dark
Thanks for reminding me that I never watched Shaun the Sheep
.........
I heard it was good.
this was the saddest scene :(
tfw grew up in plymouth and drove onto dartmoor a lot
there were sheep on the main road near a reservoir that would always stand like fucking idiots and not move
miss growing up near the countryside
at least his last memory was a happy one
I'm impressed with the attention to detail

Name a spookier villain
>the chamberpot
>there were sheep on the main road near a reservoir that would always stand like fucking idiots and not move
We only raised cows, but my friend's dad raised sheep and he constantly complained about how frustratingly dumb they were.
It's midnight a minute later

Just watching one of the films makes a cup of tea appear spontaneously in your hand

When I count sheep to get asleep, I always picture these sheep.
delet this
I didn't click on that picture.
Was the creator bankrolled by the crackers and cheese industry to make me hungry for the previously mentioned?
Wrong trousers is one of my favourite films of all time. Nothing really has as much soul as it. Watching it as a kid was really nice and everytime I see it, I still have anxiety when Wallace is stealing the diamond. 10/10
No but he inadvertently saved Wensleydale from going out of business by making it Wallace's favorite cheese. Before that they were teetering on the brink of bankruptcy.
have eaten it before, can confirm it goes perfectly with crackers
BRITISH PEOPLE ARE AUTISTIC SISSY FAGGOTS

is liking W&G the best litmus test for being an actual human being? Like who the hell doesn't enjoy the first three episodes. I'd be scared of being around them for my own safety
aardman post chicken run is so depressing
>Not using the real title
Is the fishnets undershirt an English thing? John Cleese wears one in Fawty Towers.
so you're saying that he did it for no monetary remuneration?
I'm not a child so I don't enjoy a childs film
That movie made me want to fuck Queen Victoria
The money actually came later, as the creator just picked random cheeses for Wallace to mention in A Grand Day Out, stilton, camembert, wensleydale, etc. The creamery that produces wensleydale was nearly out of business at the time and after the increased interest in the cheese from Wallace and Gromit, inquired with Aardman about doing a Wallace and Gromit branded wensleydale which rebuilt them into a successful business again.
cringe
Wow your litmus test really works, and fast.
tfw I was co-creator of "Wallace and Gromit memes" on facebook but we got deleted when we passed 50k likes
lol why?
the movie is good.
They're family films.
based wallace knows the utility of pissjugs
A British working class thing yeah.
We were 'using W&G to gain popularity when it wasn't our creation'
As long as you guys didn't monetize any of that it was a pretty dick move from FB.
>Matter of Loaf & Death
>Has to deal with throwing the bomb somewhere before it explodes

Is there a special name for it? I've been wanting to buy one for years.

Wallace and Gromit YTP is something I didn't know I needed, but I can't live without it now. That was great.

Crackers
sauce?
don't tell me that it's from a porn parody
I spent a year after college graduation just hanging around my college campus like a loser.
Started talking to this cute, yet autistic, girl that I worked with who loves this shit. Never watched it before but it is actually super entertaining.
I miss her.
What's her name? Tell us more
Also it's not too late reach out to her and invite her to a W&G night with candles crackers and cheese
Im surprised bbc never commissioned new w&g content. Maybe a movie where Wally meets a cute desi gf who introduces him to spicy cheeses.
Fuck you
Was he a nonce?
A Matter of Loaf and Death had its moments though. I'm inbred myself is still one of the funniest lines and it catches me off guard every time
this is the funniest fucking gif ever im gonna use it all the time
It's from a "comedy" spoof in the 90s
youtube.com
Her name is Kim
But I'm pretty sure it's been too long at this point. It's a collection of nice memories though
Will greentext lewd things if you want though lol
>A Matter of Loaf and Death is over ten years old already
what about loaf and death?
I've always watched this guy, and it was so weird watching one of his videos suddenly blow up to millions of views.
that was uncomfortable
What was it
>Me after a Moner thread
Wallace being baffled when he takes off the glove always makes me laugh.
One of the great villains of cinema. That chicken is pure evil.
>You have been banned from all boards. This ban will not expire.
He's just...standing there...MENACINGLY!
that antarctic chicken
Where can I "acquire" high quality versions of Wallace & Gromit?
I have this collection, good shit
btdb.eu
Why does she call Wallace "Chuck"? in Close Shave? Also reformed Preston is cute as fuck.
It was a reference to Wallace's old life as a strip-club owner in America.
"Chuck" is an affectionate name for someone in Britain, typically used for children, but generally anyone who you have parently affection for.
Bless you, user.
It's a Northern English slang meaning "buddy" basically, basically. Wallace also says it to Gromit in Wrong Trousers, "Happy birthday, chuck".
>"CHOCKS AWAY!"
>The chickens remove Toblerones from beneath the wheels.
It fucking sucks that Aardman's films barely scrape by while stuff like CG Lion King rakes in billions.
How many cartoons did Wallace and Gromit have? I had a VCR as a kid with only 3 cartoons. The moon one, the robot pants penguin thief, and the sheep one.
How did they become so iconic with only three shorts?
Five.
A Grand Day Out, the first one.
The Wrong Trousers
A Close Shave
Curse of the Were-Rabbit, a feature length film
A Matter of Loaf and Death
And some assorted shorts here and there
Same reason Mr Bean became an icon with only 15 episodes. Same reason Fawlty Towers is an iconic TV show an only has 12 episodes. Ripping Yarns is pure kino, and only had 6 episodes, I believe? Wallace & Gromit is quality over quantity. The painstaking nature of the animation meant this was necessary.
There are actually four shorts. A Matter of Loaf and Death came out about a decade ago. There's also the Aardman/Dreamworks Curse of the WareRabbit film. But the reputation of the series is based on the original three shorts. The film and Loaf and Death are excellent, mind you.
Mr. Bean only has 15 episodes? Goddamn. Its always weird when a franchise with such a massive reputation has such a small amount of actual media
Okay men, do action!

>chinese-death-webm-threads.webm
Some other stop motion series like Pingu or Thomas the Tank Engine or (insert here) were really good, but the sort of "children's television" nature meant that quality took a backseat to churning a lot of episodes to fill up a season or whatever. Wallace and Gromit was different. Every single shot is carefully crafted.
Imagine if A Grand Day Out hadn't been largely made by one dude working part time. The original concept was kind of silly. It was going to turn into this Star Wars spoof thing and be 40 minutes long. But the film was heavily scaled back to about 25 minutes and the end result is lean and focused. No redundant characters. No pointless sideplots. It is a perfect piece of film. Perfectly paced. Perfectly scored. Perfectly acted by a reasonably famous British actor who accepted 50 pounds to voice Wallace because he was feeling generous. Peter Sallis was a treasure, and he bought such warm and humanity to Wallace.
Same
because they don't emote
first time one of these has got me
most kino scene of all of w&g, prove me wrong
youtube.com
It's true.
Many, many respected filmmakers consider the train chase to be one of the best shot and paced action sequences in film.
>Shadman
have you guys seen early man
Get on that
Oh Gromit...
I have the official Japanese Blu-rays from Studio Ghibli which are now out-of-print, Studio Ghibli once had the license to everything Wallace and Gromit except for The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, which is with DreamWorks.
They are now very expensive since they are out-of-print.
Based Studio Ghibli also released the Shaun the Sheep series on Blu-ray, and Japan is the only country to get Shaun the Sheep on Blu-ray.
If you can't get the Japanese versions, the Lionsgate Blu-ray is pretty good as well.
RIP Peter Sallis
I've heard some people claim that Wallace and Gromit has some licensing issues that affect re-releases. Is that true?
>tfw can't find plain Wensleydale in my part of Ireland
Why is it all this cranberry crap, I just want the plain goodness for crackers
It's got so much soul to it.
Liking it is like liking early SpongeBob, there's just something inherently good and enjoyable about it that almost anyone can enjoy it.
Concorde's release in Germany is still on-print as well as the UK release but Lionsgate's US release and Ghibli's Japanese release are both out-of-print.
Yeah, there is some licensing weirdness.
The US DVDs were first released by Warner Bros., then they were with DreamWorks, then Fox, then Lionsgate (which also released the Blu-ray).
As for Japan, all I know was that Aniplex held the license before Studio Ghibli.
The whackers Gromit!
A Grand Day Out is so unpolished and surreal compared to the others.
I love it for that
Look them up at snahp(dot)it, all the shorts and movie are there ready for direct download, you only need a link manager like JDownloader or Mipony in order to get the encrypted links.
that robot was the emotional fulcrum of the movie and is 10/10 redemption arc kino
kino
lol what's wallace gotten himself into this time
ur mum
It's the little details, such as Gromit looking up when he opens the letter.
I love how that's 100% in-character for him, too
I still forget he's gone sometimes.
HEEEEEEEELP GROMIIIIIIIIT
We forgot the crackers!
>GAAAHWD *chair clattering*
I've seen multiple British productions where characters do that with their fingers.
Do brits really do that?
I liked that page when it was up, I was so purplexed that it got Zucced. Thanks for the laughs. Everyone should check out Chicken Runner 2049, thats a blessed page.
I miss Knox's Korner. I miss 2000 to 2008 internet.
Yeah it's really good
name another one, that isn't wallace and gromit
That's Wallace's thing. So unless you see British productions that reference Wallace and Gromit I doubt it.
???
Crack on toast, Gromit.
Cracking thread, Gromit.
> Will greentext lewd things if you want though
Go on
I live in Russia and I had like three cartoons of w&g on vhs when I was a kid. Watched them to death, good times.
>characters you want to punch in the face
I remember being very scared of him when watching that episode as a child
Fuck, I havent seen that since I was young and it was in theaters. Is it good?
I remember liking it. A little more straightforward and conventional than the very surreal short films, and with a bit more "Hollywood" (more adult jokes, occasional pop culture reference, etc), but it was still very funny and the animation was excellent.
But I haven't seen it in years myself.
I miss claymation. When was the last good claymation movie?
Missing Link, four months ago. It massively bombed. Laika does good work.

The chase music in these still makes me anxious.
>The moon robot's total despair after being knocked out of the rocket and believing it's lost its dream of skiing forever
No. Memories, NO!
It also has couple of movies and an animated series. But the original series was very short. Because that's how Brits operate, short number of episodes per season/series.
But it's ok in the end.
kekked
this sequence kills me every time
Perfect for walkies
The sneeds, chuck!
I barely watched anything besides the movie. Is it worth?
Absolutely. A Grand Day Out, then The Wrong Trousers, then A Close Shave. They're all short as well, you can watch the three in like 90 minutes.
Ya its fun, memorable and not much of a time commitment. It's creative too. Closest Britain will come to actual creative television. (Im a brit so its ok)
The shorts are better than the movies, and those are great already.
The bounce has gone from his bungee.
Wholesome thread still up, well done lads
fucking kek
link scene pls
holy fuck, grew up watching these. thanks user.
The smackheads, Gromit! We've forgotten the smackheads!
TECHNO TROUSERS
Americans are consumerist whores who latch onto nostalgia.
I LOVE laika but that film was like a 6/10. Coraline is still the best Laika film.
>just pulls out a fucking gun
Jesus, he's hardcore.
>funny movie
>depicts Charles Darwin as the pathetic incel he was and shows evolution couldn't ever happen
>lets us know the English Royal family is evil
This is a movie all kids should see.
>*traumatizes your childhood*
That's so cool
The robot still manages to be one of the best characters in cinema
It's just how British comedy used to be done, we finished shows when we knew they were creatively spent, we didn't wait for them to decline in quality and continue to milk them for what they're worth.
Is that how this kino was made as well?
>bit more "Hollywood" (more adult jokes, occasional pop culture reference, etc)
Can blame Katzenberg for that. He even wanted to change Wallace's accent and make his car more sporty.
Wow racist
I'm a little too young for that, I watched Noah's Island growing up.
Anyone ever watched the Cracking Contraptions shorts?
youtube.com
I remember that existing but didn't watch it for some reason.
What does Edam taste like?
glad that Yea Forums unanimously agress that wallace and gromit is 100% great
It’s also because Britain had a much smaller potential audience. If the product wasn’t a BBC behemoth, chances are it wasn’t worth risking money to make an extra series unless the writers had a definite direction to go in.
Unfortunately this lead to the rise of low cost and low effort panel shows, and the rest is history.
Sure.
I remember someone asking what made it special. For me, it captures a part of Britain that is fading away fast. I think given that its set in a Britain that didn't undergo decimalisation could be part of it.
>Get me out of these trousers this minute!
>Cheese
I'm not getting it
Why wouldn't he shoot a dog before throwing him into a closet?
>The Niggers, Gromit
what did they mean by this?
Raimi.
One of the best threads I have seen on here in awhile, what are Aardman even up to now? Did Early Man do well?
A bit late but
>be me
>drinking with buddies on cold winter night
>everyone starts passing out
>receive message from aforementioned qt3.14 autist
>walk half drunk through the streetlights and snow to where she wants to meet
>get accosted by several drunk people along the way
>people pulling on my coat, saying they know me
>fuck off assholes
>feel arms around me
>whirl around angry at yet another drunk idiot
>it's qt3.14 autist, looks concerned that she angered me
>immediately calm down and laugh
>walk hand in hand back to her apartment
>glasses fog up coming into the heat of her place
>strip off snowy outer layers, push her up against the wall
>her pupils are huge
>kiss her, feel how cold her lips are against mine
>incredibly pale skin quickly warming up between us
>toss her onto the bed and climb on as well
>pull clothing off each other and explore with our mouths and hands
>she was particularly into biting
>left me leaving every time with visible bite marks over my whole torso
>nibbles at my hips
>I move down and she wraps her legs around my head
>move back up after a while and let her taste my lips
>slide into her and go at it again and again
>cuddle all night after
Great memories, I hope she's well.
>what are Aardman even up to now
They're making another Chicken Run, and supposedly Nick Park said that Sallis wanted them to continue W&G without him.
Timmy Time is pure kino
>tfw she doesn't like cheese
>not even wensleydale
The robot dog
His replacement VA has almost nailed his voice right?
wait what
chicken run is a masterpeice and i am worried about the sequel (what the hell is it going to be about?) but hey ho
>MRS TWEEDY! THE CHICKENS ARE REVOLTING!

absolute classic. i remember the episode where kestrel attacked the farmers cat when he was just trying to help badger and how upset it made me.
>What kind of pies?
>Apple.
>oh me life flashed before me eyes!
>...it was really boring.
youtube.com
i watch it every christmas it's so good.
Ooh heck!
I remember watching the shorts the very first time they aired on PBS/WHYY as a kid. It was like an actual special event since I only had 6 channels. It was one of the first times seeing a show and knowing you had watched something truly special.
This thread fills me with nostalgia. Thanks for giving my day a good start Yea Forums
>the wallace and gromit thread is still there when I wake up
You're alright sometimes Yea Forums. Thanks for the rare wallaces, now go watch Stage Fright. It's a good short
the song in that is really catchy, 'the stroll down the river bank' one i used to sing it all the time.
Dad's Army was a rare case. 80 episodes. 80 amazing, SOULFUL episodes of pure British comedy magic. Holy shit that show was good. Absolutely flawless casting. Steptoe and Son had 57 episodes. Most of which were, again, pure magic. The calibre of comedy that the BBC cultivated back in the day is fucking amazing. And these shows weren't just funny. They were examinations of the human condition. The reason we remember Captain Mainwaring is not because he's a tryhard who promoted himself to Captain. We remember him because when the chips were down, he was brave. The entire premise of Dad's Army is a bit morbid. If the Germans invaded, this collection of no-hopers and geriatrics would be slaughtered. But to the bitter end, Captain Mainwaring would protect his men and his town. Underneath the comedy was a little man filled with courage and compassion. Sometimes he was petty. Sometimes he was jealous of Arthur Wilson who was actually qualified to lead and was a member of the golf club and shit. But he was brave. And Arthur was both gracious and lacked the spine to instill the men with the spirit to fight if they had to.
Good stuff. Fucking good stuff.
Got a link here it's on yt
youtube.com
Steptoe and Son was too depressing for me. Any time a glimpse of change would come his way he would give in and fall back into the cycle of dependence with his father and it was too close to the bone. Great acting.
Just checked up and it seems strange Only Fools and Horses had only 64 episodes, and ignoring the revival Christmas episodes, it was brilliant, especially when you know people like the Trotters.
Eh, he still sounds like Wallace with a cold to me, it has improved since he first did the telltale games.
"Going.. down."
>Chrimbo in the 90s
>tfw one of the original shorts comes on Christmas morning as you're unwrapping pressies
Was there a comfier feel?
>watching the snowman on christmas eve and getting ready for father christmas to visit
one of my absolute best memories
You don't have to be british to enjoy W&G, I'm spanish and I love them. I also love a lot of the old Aardman shorts, specially that Nina Simone video with cats which I watched a lot of times on TV in the late 80s.
Since the arrival of digital cinema, stop motion films in general feel a bit more souless to me. It doens't matter it's Aardman or Laika, I believe they use a lot of digital postproduction and CGI mattes which makes those films less charming and real. Also, globalization now avoid the local and pushes forward stories, jokes and characters that anyone in the world can understand and relate.
>curse that prevailing south-westerly
wow that was terrible
There’s good left in this board, and it’s worth fighting for.
