Why was Hughie such a soyboy?
Xavier Hill
Nolan Bailey
Seth Green self insert
Justin Roberts
Hughie is absolutely pathetic from the first episode to the last one, it's not even funny
Dylan Barnes
He still fucks starlight
Ian Reyes
He's supposed to be relatable to the average Yea Forums user.
Adam Williams
Why did they make him American?
Brayden Anderson
I honestly have no problem with it.
Two fake accents are enough for one show. Not that they're bad or anything, he's supposed to be the average Joe, so it doesn't really matter they turned him into an american.
Grayson Jenkins
I didnt like hughie at all. His rage moments seemed so fucking stupid. I also thought it was weird how they tried to play him as a talented awkward nerd and complete james bond charmer back and forth
Dominic King
>He still fucks starlight
Even after fucking she kinda reminded him he was a loser and she was wondering why she was staying with him.
William Russell
Hughie in the comics is fairly ugly and literally turns starlight into a sexobsessed personal slut
Carter Adams
8th for homelander
Parker Cooper
>He's supposed to be relatable to the average Yea Forums user.
Seriously the character is a beta loser in every possible way. I'm afraid that's how the showrunners see the core audience.
Asher Ortiz
I find him very relateable to me, now if he just exclusively fucked cute black girls than we would be kinda the same person.
Ethan Perry
>cute
I had to hide robin's face with my hand because of how hideous she is.
Caleb Martin
He's an embarrassment he keeps saying "i'm sorry" for everything
Jeremiah Lee
Butcher was leading him into destruction. Hughie was right to cut ties to that super cuck.
Daniel Johnson
He represents the average american.
Cooper Butler
>Butcher was leading him into destruction. Hughie was right to cut ties to that super cuck.
This is absolutely retarded. Instead of helping Butcher finish the job and defeat Homelander, which is the greater plan. This fucking loser goes to save the other bunch of losers for nothing, he had nothing to gain. It's the opposite of what Luke does in ESB when he skips trining to save his friends. Her Hughue runs away from the only opportunity they had yo beat Homelander.
Henry Bailey
>Instead of helping Butcher finish the job and defeat Homelander
You mean, "help Buthcher in his suicide vendetta against Homelander".
Xavier Cruz
>helping Butcher finish the job and defeat Homelander, which is the greater plan
Butcher never planned to actually kill Homelander though, he knew he couldn't. He was going to kill Stillwell to get revenge on Homelander but that completely backfired and Homelander made him look like a joke.
Blake Rodriguez
Soi
Jayden Sanchez
It wasn't suicide, I don't know what exactly hat his plan was when he got the female hostage but he had a plan. What's Hughie's plan? Running away forever like a bitch?
Alexander Lewis
in what universe does a tall white male with hair go on a date with a subhuman poo-in-loo who says things like "dude" ?
Benjamin Hall
He didn't want to fuck around with mutt trash but he went with it for pussy. He's an actual man with an aryan girl
Gavin Garcia
>it doesn't really matter they turned him into an american.
isn't highland laddie an important plot arc
William Cox
>What's Hughie's plan?
Saving his friends. And he did a better job of it than Butcher did of hurting Homelander even before Starlight showed up.
Lincoln Hernandez
Banshee was amazing and I wish I could forget all of it and then watch it again.
Nathaniel Hall
Duded, he's not exactly very handsome, he's tall but he's skinny and looks like a child when he wears a Tee. The showrunners wanted to tell you he can't aim very high.
Charles Bell
Hughie got Starlight on their side
Butchers plan was to blow himself up infront of Homelander and his mommy
Jason Walker
Watch it again. His plan was to make Homelander watch the only person he cared about get blown to bits. His own death was absolutely part of that because even if he survived the blast he'd have the most dangerous man in the world coming after him, and he wanted to be there to see the look of anguish on Homelander's face. It was pure, spiteful revenge.
Brandon Kelly
>said he had a first kiss at 16
just when I thought the writers had nailed the whole "loser" thing
Jayden Flores
People like non-threatening loser characters. It's very endearing that he is this an anxious and essentially harmless guy that everyone can relate to deep-down but who when push comes to shove rises to the challenge. He grows up as the show goes on but doesn't lose who he is and we're well into the hero's journey.
He's too old for the role and Simon Pegg is too young to be playing the father of a character who looks to be in his 30s
Alexander Phillips
have sex
Lincoln Bell
>And he did a better job of it than Butcher did of hurting Homelander
At least Butcher tried, and something unexpected happened, he even decided to sacrifice himself to try and kill him . Meanwhile Hghie and his buddies would be dead if his waifu didn't show up
Caleb Cox
How the fuck are they supposed to kill homelander you fucking retard???????????
Gabriel Price
>Butchers plan was to blow himself up infront of Homelander and his mommy
Butcher would have told Hughie t leave before the detonation. Hughie was saved by Starlight but it was her own doing, he didn't call her to help, he had no fucking plan
Jaxon Edwards
I wouldn’t say ugly, he is just average, a normal guy that you see a million walking all around you. But he is a good person, sometimes a coward, sometimes naive, yes, but still good. And that’s how he charms her.
>HOWEVER
when shit hits the fan he shows he can grow as a person and stand up for himself and others, even leads the charge you know when, and later decapitates that stupid fuck A-Train like a champ
Brandon Johnson
Americans don't take Scottish accents seriously, we think they're hilarious.
David Torres
Butcher probably thought Homelander would try to get his mommy out of her bomb vest and would die in the process, but the plan didn't go right
Xavier Jones
she ugly af tho
Lucas Martinez
Hughie is a bad character, he let Butcher down in a situation of crisis, that's unforgiveable
Bentley Sullivan
>why yes, I am a fan of The Boys, how could you tell?
Henry Evans
nah, he knows it’s futile to use explosives against him
he just wants to kill the one person he thinks Homelander cares about
Jordan Diaz
t. Butcher
David Anderson
Anybody prettier ould be out of Hughie's league. They're enforcing the fact that he is a beta. The problem is that he never grows out of it
Ryan King
>started fake smiling and being nice to people I interact with like chadlander
>got 2 mires
>everyone seems more open
>I can see their eyes lingering on me on my peripheral vision after I'm done talking to them
wtf is this the base level how everyone feels all the time? I ask because my resting face has always been described as angry or evil. I just need to work on my voice and I'll be unstoppable.
Jayden Cooper
He could have forced Hmelander to commit suicide as the only way to save his mommy. Sounds not bad as a plan
Alexander Carter
I don't think Homelander could commit suicide if he tried.
But really, that's beside the point. He fucking SAID he just wanted to make him watch her die. How much more on the nose do you need it to be?
Jacob Cox
My girlfriend asked me out
Michael Sanchez
People respond well to smiles, yeah. I used to do it all the time, but it's gotten to the point where I don't bother anymore unless I'm trying to make friends or get laid.
Tyler Phillips
Then why did he still detonate the bomb when she was already dead?
Aiden Jenkins
Hughie being a basedboy was only his conditioning. Look how he manipulated and muredered and barely feels bad about it now.
Tyler Lopez
Butcher found out everything he did was from cuckoldry
Oliver Harris
>Defeat Homelander
Kek. Anyone who wouldn't trade dying for Butcher and his fat dead goblina girlfriend for smashing dat Starlight pussy is an absolute retarded.
Ryder Rodriguez
Starlight only showed up because she is super in love with him.
Noah Powell
Because he wanted to die fast and not get (literally) skullfucked by Homelander
Landon Powell
>My girlfriend asked me out
Adam Perry
If Translucent has diamond-hard skin, then how come he got knocked around by Butcher?
And how didn't Butcher break his hands while fighting him?
And wouldn't the however-his-skin-works make it heavier, slowing him down while he was invisible?
How come some dipshit mayor knows about Compound V?
Why was the "the timing is bad" story for his murder dropped?
If The Deep found the plane, then how come he didn't tell people who could survey the damage for a FAA investigation/recover the bodies of an elected official and his son?
How come some dipshit D-lister like Popclaw is so familiar with Compound V that she's actually relapsed with it? If it's some kind of open secret, then how come the CIA is just now learning about it from some burnout like Butcher?
Luis Howard
>Starlight only showed up because she is super in love with him.
So in love with him that she wanted to deliver him to police and watch him rot in prison for years. If it wasn't for Butcher, the soiboy was toast
Aaron Lee
>pathetic
>gets laid more than any other character except Homelander
Nolan Barnes
That's your average midwest protestant white girl.
Benjamin Cook
Everyone in this is miscast and the comics are better.
Parker Bell
Hughie is relentlessly handsome. I want to kiss him relentlessly.
Adrian Roberts
dilate
Dominic Jenkins
You do realise that Butcher's wife is actually dead in the comics and homelander's clone did rape her?
The tv show just throws that out of the window and shows her as alive because fuck knows?
They ruined butchers character imo
Charles Butler
Because the whole point of the character is being a nerdy basedboy manchild who learns to grow up and stand up for himself. He's meant to be a loser capeshit loving bitch who realizes it's all retarded and finally moves on.
Aaron Murphy
Hughie plan worked up until A train showed up
Andrew Davis
I'm literally Hughie irl. Tall, handsome and chicks feel safe around me. Literally me
Easton Cook
>everyone in this thread has completely bought into the idea that not being an uberchad means you will never get laid / be good in bed
I think I traced the source of your self-hatred guys
Liam Nelson
>They ruined butchers character imo
I think it's actually a redpill on roasties and quite ballsy to do that after the metoo ysteria. His wife was a fucking whore, that's not his fault as he didn't let her be. She did this on his back. Meanwhile Hughie is a real cuck, when that nigger invited himself at his table and started chatting with Starlight and making fun of Hughie. He just left the table! That's how a cuck acts
Liam Jones
>ruined
it's much, much cleverer than the comics plot arc for both characters. there's far more possibilities and I guarantee you both Kiwis are better off having with something beyond a whodunnit revenge plot twist to deal with.
Noah Phillips
>relatable to the average Yea Forums user
>has sex
Jordan Rodriguez
The made literally every character more interesting because the book is trash. If Butcher's wife was dead than that means all his character has is revenge. He's just a boring simple revenge character with nothing going on other than a cliche "he who fights monsters" thing.
With her being alive and raising Homelander's son in secret it opens up a vast amount of far more interesting and complex directions to take these characters in. How does Butcher react to knowing his motivation for the last 8 years was bullshit? How does he react to his super step-son? Does his relationship with his wife go on? Why did she do all this shit in the first place. What does Homelander think of all this, does he actually like his son? It's so much more interesting than just, "Superman bad, want revenge".
Chase Morales
Fuck off back to Yea Forums. Your comic version is fucking trash
Elijah Gray
>You do realise that Butcher's wife is actually dead in the comics
I do. I also realize that the discussion wasn't about the comics.
>They ruined butchers character imo
No, they didn't. He sucked anyway. Hopefully he has a better reason to become the final boss in the show.
Comicfags are unbearable.
Nicholas Morris
>His wife was a fucking whore
the show won't channel this specific attitude to cheating wimmin except perhaps via Butcher's initial reaction, but it is basically doing what you think it's doing, and I think women on the internet will be okay with it as long as it's well-written.
Jacob Sullivan
She was never gonna really give him to the police dumby. She let him go like three times and she is a fucking superhero who could have hunted him down to arrest him at any time.
She wanted to believe in him so she wouldn't lose her boyfriend.
Leo Ortiz
Butcher probably made up having a wife too
Oliver Cooper
>handsome
I want to kiss you relentlessly.
Brayden Davis
Nope she grabbed him by the arm and was taking him to police. Butcher saved his ass. It's only afterwards that she made up her mind
Aaron Ramirez
Go rewatch. She pulled him like five feet and stopped and then she was hearing him out and would have probably listened if Butcher didn't shoot her. Like its so obvious she wanted him to say anything that would make it okay.
Levi Wood
How much did they change his character from the comics?
Camden Ramirez
>I think it's actually a redpill on roasties and quite ballsy to do
It's not.
It's unbelievably pro whore hypergamy female, pushes limp dick cuckery and men who would be upset by this as being not smart or good peole or just hostile jerks.
>With her being alive and raising Homelander's son in secret it opens up a vast amount of far more interesting and complex directions to take these characters in.
Like...
Carson Lee
He fucked one of the Seven
Jackson Sullivan
completely different character, as he is Seth Rogen’s self insert
Noah Diaz
But there was nothing to make it okay. Hughie murdered a supe and his only motivaion was revenge
Ryan Cox
She doesn't know that though he told her it was about compound V and stopping supes in the military and shit.
Hughie has manipulated her pretty well.
Charles Walker
>his first kiss wasn't before 16
YIKES
Carson Mitchell
>muh redpill
yeah whatever it is more realistic but you do realise that they've written themselves in to a corner with butcher and even hughie right?
They have no motivation for either of them to continue going after supes now. It may be a tired cliche that butcher was looking for revenge but at least it drove the story forward.
Now theres nothing to move the story forward
Josiah Edwards
>It's unbelievably pro whore hypergamy female, pushes limp dick cuckery and men who would be upset by this as being not smart or good peole or just hostile jerks.
How is it pro whore? They clearly show that she hadn't been raped on security camera and Homelander reveals it wasn't rape. So butcher got cucked but his wife isnt showed in positive light.
Levi Diaz
Does anyone have any idea what the fuck the next season is going to be about?
Aaron Lee
They are fugitives their motivation is not going to prison
Jaxon Hall
How about the fact that they are all still on the run from Vought and the Seven due to knowing too much of their dirty shit?
Cameron James
You could just read the next few sentences after that to find out a few examples.
Chase Phillips
My guesses
>The Boys- Butcher trying to stay out of jail
>Hughie and Starlight relationship stuff
>Heros forming up an anti 7 posse.
>Anti 7 group will be Kimiko Starlight A-Train and The Deep
>Lots of drama about The Deep and A-Train being shitty people Hughie and Starlight forgive it for greater good.
Josiah Walker
>They have no motivation for either of them to continue going after supes now.
Hughy and co know about supes personally arranging for the creation of superterrorists. they still have every motive to want to bring down HL and Vought.
Butcher is obviously going to be HL's prisoner for a while, there is the potential for kino 4-way satirical family satirical drama.
oh and I really think HL will be president by the end of next season and do increasingly evil shit, it's an obvious way to up the ante and it's been done with Superman a bunch of times.
Logan Nguyen
Also Butcher being held prisoner by Homelander and psychologically tormented by him.
Jackson Gray
like butcher would give a shit about that shit.
Like 'being on the run' is sufficient fuel to move the story forward.
it will be straight retconned shit like this the show is going to go full walking dead or post season 5 game of thrones.
Levi Cox
He had to stifle his laughter when Starlight told him she had her first kiss at 18. Hughie had his at 14.
Charles Martinez
How is A Train not dead? Dude had a massive heart attack and wouldn't recieve resuscitation for minutes
Logan Brown
How does Butcher have no motivation? Do you think that a man, who was cucked, would never want revenge if the cucking was consensual? Do you think that a man, who has been seeking revenge for 8 years, would suddenly not be angry once he realizes what he thought was the truth was a lie?
That's not how people work.
Jeremiah Roberts
I don't know but they set it up like he was gonna make it. He will be kicked out of the 7 and be all depressed and resentful.
He might kill himself. I think he will end up working with Hughie in the end though.
Christopher Price
>They clearly show that she hadn't been raped on security camera and Homelander reveals it wasn't rape. So butcher got cucked but his wife isnt showed in positive light.
How is this not pro-whore hypergamy?
Leo Nguyen
Yeah, what we really need are the molested X-Men and the retarded superhero team to pad out Ennis's paper thin plot. Or we can get the "Black Noir is Homelander but stronger!" twist, because corporations are dumb!
Ethan Baker
do you really think he'd feel anything other than total despair after finding out his wife fucked a supe and left him to have said supe's baby while he fought tooth and nail to get revenge for her alleged death at his hands for the past 9 years?
Why would he give a fuck about homelander at this point? Why would he not just try and throttle his bitch wife?
Jace Phillips
they can depict her as weak and flawed instead of as a cardboard cutout.
Jace Long
Remind me why self inster protagonists shouldnt be killed after first episode so we could focus on characters everyone wants to focus on.
William Parker
you appear to have no sense of what makes for compelling drama/comedy/satire. obviously they can do all of those things, although Homelander is going to prevent Butcher from resolving the situation in any direct/simple way because the situation is amusing to him.
Wyatt Clark
>How is this not pro-whore hypergamy?
How is it pro?? Did you feel like they said she was doing something right?
Charles Butler
>“If I let you suck my cock in the backseat, will it shut you up?”
>“What?” Hughie says instinctively, as though there’s any possibility he hadn’t heard, hadn’t understood, when really he’s just wondering how Butcher knows that about him, that it’s how he needs to be calmed, sometimes, with a strong hand and someone else to take control for a while. He licks his lips then immediately regrets the tell when Butcher smirks, and fuck he’s hot, he’s older, he gives so few fucks about everything, except- “This is- all for Robin. I still love her.”
>“What’s love got to do with it?”
>Hughie gets as far as opening his mouth, inhaling-
>“If you sing, I will open the door while the car is moving and shove you out.”
>“Fair,” Hughie mutters, looking down at his hands, resting carefully in his lap. He’s been half-hard ever since he left the tower. His heart’s pounding a little less, and he can think a little clearer. All that’s stopping him is the quiet -usually very loud- voice in the back of his head that’s telling him he shouldn’t.
>But he wants. “Yeah, alright.”
>“Great,” Butcher says, as though they’ve just agreed on where to go for lunch, at least glances in his rearview mirror before shoving the car into reverse and slamming his foot down, screeching the car back into what is not quite a space. He leaves the engine running as he gets out, looks at Hughie expectantly, raises his eyebrow.
>“Aren’t you gunna-“
>“Won’t take that long.”
Dominic Wilson
user, he'd quite honestly smash her skull in snap the kids neck then murder the homelander after luring him with pictures of their dead body.
Remember, Butcher is a sociopath and lunatic who's not in the slightest a heroic man.
If you throw out the logic of the character you created for drama then it's bad drama.
Eli Murphy
Comics are for children. Grow up faggot
John Gomez
>do you really think he'd feel anything other than total despair after finding out his wife fucked a supe and left him to have said supe's baby while he fought tooth and nail to get revenge for her alleged death at his hands for the past 9 years?
Yes, anger.
>Why would he give a fuck about homelander at this point?
Because he cucked him, you dumb fuck. THIS LITERALLY HAPPENS IN REAL LIFE.
Why would a man be mad at another man for fucking his wife? Are you an actual retard?
Connor Martin
Homelander can obviously prevent him from doing anything like that with no effort or risk at all, and Butcher is going to have questions before he outright murders a woman he's been searching for for 8 years in front of her superpowered son who might also have some view of the situation. u dum.
Blake Lewis
This desu
I haven't read the comics but the way I've seen the basic plot was described, the show seems to have taken a much wiser tract that allows for more possibilities to explore character relationships instead of making absolutely everything about edgy, puerile revenge
Chase Hernandez
>user, he'd quite honestly smash her skull in snap the kids neck then murder the homelander after luring him with pictures of their dead body.
And Homelander is just supposed to allow this to happen in your mind.
>If you throw out the logic of the character you created for drama then it's bad drama.
Yeah, like creating a stronger Homelander to keep Homelander in check. That is shitty, forced drama.
Aiden Hall
it's just as well given how generic the relationships of every character outside the HL love triangle feels at this point. (they can probably still do something interesting with The Deep). the show really revived my flagging interest in the last episode.
Nathan Ross
DOES SOMETHING happen in the comics that makes butcher and homelander team up to beat a common enemy?
Jason White
I feel like they don't really establish that he had any special affinity towards capeshit prior to the events of the show
I suppose it would have been difficult to show off without being obtuse and portraying him as overly soi, because in a world where superheroes exist and are marketed it's a natural assumption in the same way that you can assume most boys like baseball or dinosaurs, but there's no concrete establishment of that aspect aside from the scene where he sees his room with all the memorabilia. I don't think he was meant to have an arc where he goes from idolizing heroes to seeing them for who they really are, it's more like he stops blindly believing PR he's blasted with 24/7 and starts examining the reality of his world
Logan Nguyen
Nah, it does have Homelander saying Nigger, Gooks and Chinks a bunch
Juan Long
Season 4 was horrible, killing off Rebecca for a minor role in Westworld
Adam Morales
I think Black Noir is revealed to be a stronger Homelander clone made to kill him in case Homelander goes rogue. But Noir went crazy too and started doing evil shit all the time and making everyone else think Homelander was doing it. All the shit Homelander thought he did, including raping Butcher's was actually Noir fucking with him driving him to be evil and crazy. I don't think that shits going to happen in the show though..
Alexander Rodriguez
You mean besides the whole "They've jeopardized the entire world by creating real life supervillains and pumping helpless infants with super hero juice" issue? Vought still needs to be brought down at all costs
Dylan Morris
I tried to read it but got bored quickly and the art is so bad
Adrian James
Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but considering the Author of the original comics opinion on superheroes I couldn't help but see those seems of Hughie wrecking his capeshit collection and A-Train mocking him as a kind of insult to all the obsessive Marvel loving capeshit fans out there today.
Isaiah Kelly
It's incredibly slow to read and almost nothing interesting is happening. It gets old with the fucking too thats happening in almost every chapter
Liam Smith
You need an audience stand in who can react in a relatable manner to all the wild shit that's happening, and for people to give exposition to
You can't just have a gang of hardened mercenaries rolling around, one of them needs to be a normal guy who elucidates the obvious moral quandries they face for a potentially braindead audience
Christian Jenkins
>Pafetic
Jaxon Foster
Please tell me the climax of this show isn't going to be Homelander getting BTFO'd by an 8 year old superboy
Kayden Watson
I hope they keep Black Noir as a fairly original character and not just "lol even more crazy Homelander clone"
James Gomez
The actor who plays black noir is a black dude, If he was a homelander clone in the show they would've just let the homelander actor play him
Asher Morgan
His mother either died while he was young or abandoned him and his dad so Hughie was afraid of rejection. It’s why he has trouble bringing up the raise as well. He doesn’t want to disturb the status quo and risk being hurt again. The shock of Robin’s death and the indignity he feels from the lack of remorse is what pushes him to disregard those feelings
Jonathan Perez
same height than homelander's actor and doesn't promote the show
Camden Baker
Is it possible they went with a black guy under the suit because the material was so thin that a white guy was kind of visible?
Easton Gutierrez
