He never went back, did he?
He never went back, did he?
care to extrapolate?
Maybe the greatest ad was the friends we made all along
It's Mad men tv series. Don't wanna spoil if you haven't watched it.
we went back a made the cola commercial. are you retarded?
Well clearly he did an ad making money off of an entire generation of hippies and set the de facto standard for future ads like the Apple one, so I'd guess he went back
That was just his vision/dream. He never actually went back and they wouldn't have taken him after being absent for months.
>show ends with the "greatest" advert of all time
>he didn't go back did he
worlds biggest brainlet
Yeah, I'm thinking he's back.
Yes, you can view it as such, however it's hard for his dream to be the exact thing that someone else thought up
If you weren't a zoomer, you'd know
youtube.com
McCann had literally been headhunting Don for more than a decade. They knew his talent was something special. The "leave" of absence was more than offset by his eventual creative contribution, which is implied to be that Coke commerical.
After this show I tried finding some type of artistic value from advertisements, but all commercials today are shit.
That's what you think, however all great ads play on psychology and/or hatewatching to spread their product
Just look at Gilette for fuck's sake
Or Nike before that
It's an art in and of itself, albeit a very destructive one, it's great at making a lot of money fast though
not every tv ending is “it was just a dream bro” you retard brainlet faggot
and the Coke commercial is meant to show how Don's whole nuanced experience of 60s hippy America: his first "wife" and her daughter etc, not to mention his own personal growth and search for meaning, ended up being boiled down into a shitty ad and commercialized.
I was actually surprised how little they spelled out the point for the audience.
you are naive child if you think a legit company would take him back after that.
they were always shit. part of the point of Mad Men is that Don has the potential to be an artist but is wasting his life doing ads because he gets money and women facing the world via a persona.
If you think about it, advertising and creating memes are very similar. Don was a shitposter
You fucking moron.
He went back and created the ad. It was made by a guy who worked for McCann-Erickson in 1971. That's the whole point. He pulls the hippy vibe and commercializes it to sell Coke. Everything he experienced at camp hoo-haa.
they also both have the same culturally elevating effect on people.
How about a Mad Men prequel based on Edward Bernays
What the fuck did Draper do in his office all day?
it's true what they say, trolling is a art
yes please!
>a art
*an art
>get in at 10:30am
>tell Peggy to not let anybody in
>nap for 2 hours
>go out for lunch then to Midge's place
>back by 3pm
>take a meeting with creative so he can yell at Kinsey and Crane
>spend the rest of the afternoon drinking with Roger
You dumb motherfucker.
why do you feel entitled to comment when you obviously have not seen the show?
>trip baited hook line & sinker
you new daft cunt
A legit company wants the best talent available and is willing to put up with eccentricities if it means getting results. Also it's a tv show.
I read the wikipedia article and watched the last 30 minutes of the show.
his dad called him out on in in a drug induced hallucination. He grows bullshit.
Dumb motherfuckers.
Don't forget he left home at 5am, got into the city before 7:30 and spend and hour and a half slamming hoes
imagine being THIS new
Was Draper sex addict or did he fall in love way too easily?
Everyone would be a sex addict if they could.
The writer literally confirmed Don made the ad.
Keep trying to get into this show but I can’t. Finally finished season 1. Should I keep trying or give up if it hasnt clicked already?
He's not a sex addict, the dude from Shame is a sex addict and you can see the differences.
He was a women addict, he saw every woman as a source of answers for his questions
It was a real ad from the 70s zoomie
Nah he didn't care about sex that much, even Betty put out whenever he wanted it. He wanted a mother figure and emotional fulfilment.
I'd say this is one of those shows that's great from the start, if it hasn't clicked yet it probably won't at all.
The first two seasons feel slow and unfocused. I really started to like the show during season 3.
>show about advertising
>ends with and advertisement
un ironicly bought a coke after the finale
70s seemed fun
for what it's worth i thought season 1 was the weakest one but if you don't like it at all then it might be not for you
Are you a zoomer?
fuck off back to Yea Forums
Sex meant as much to him as the booze and the creative pitches. It was all about distracting himself from his own baggage.
>vision/dream
I'm curious to know who's the real man behind it
Mad Men was the second show I ever binge watched, the first being the Walking Dead (Seasons 1-3)
Am I based or cringe or kino?
Some of the episodes are the best television has ever produced, so i'd say yeah
Season 1 is too slow, i remember dropping it for a while too
Not great, not terrible.
I binge watched it as well because I didn't follow it when it first aired.
I don't know how they aired it back then (if 2 episodes a week or 1), but I feel like binge watching it is not the best way to connect with it.
Every episodes is filled with so many little details and subtle events that if you watch many episodes on a row you risk not to absorb very well, I feel like 2 episodes a day (3 for the finale since every season has odd episodes) is the best way to watch it
No matter what people on this board say, I think Mad Men is the second best TV show ever. Only The Sopranos is better and The Wire is a close 3rd.
haven't gotten there yet; what happened in this scene?
Drink about 2 bottles of Canadian Club / Day
i showed her my cock
That would be American Horror Story
She walks in on Don fucking the mom of the boy she likes
Finally got around to watch this and it took about 3 weeks. Will I like Sopranos too?
"Are we negroes?"
-Bobby Draper
Are you a brainlet. He found a new avenue to exploit and basically created modern advertising that targets 18-35 year olds.
The showrunner of Mad Men wrote on the last couple seasons of The Sopranos. It's a similar feel I think, even though the subject matter is completely different.
Lol yeah you will like it. Who hasn’t seen sopranos in 2019?
What would you do if Sally Draper gave you the death stare?
Look up some real ads from back then, they were even dumber.
cumne pant
THE KING ORDERED IT
>they wouldnt take him back
he's an attractive and charismatic chad, he would have walked back in and talked them into his add and a 1m bonus within 5 minutes
flood my penis with blood, until that frown turns upside down
This, the groundbreaking ads today are trying to attach a product to a social cause or some sense of morality.
youtube.com
Trudy was the best woman in Mad Men, fight me
I just took it to mean that despite the breakdowns, the running away etc. that he was able to come back and not only did his creative genius never wane, it was better than ever. Don't see how much of Don's life was comparable to the ad itself.
Did you not watch the show? They had been hunting him for over 10 years.
Who won and who lost?
Definite winners:
>Cambell
>Roger
Definite losers:
>Betty
pretty much, don was just blessed, beautiful, intelligent, charismatic and has that 'spark' - so in the end everything turns out fine for him
unlike guys like pryce who hang themselves or duck who drinks himself into ruin
Joan lost hard.
>thinks she can play with the big boys
>fails miserably
>is reminded of pimping herself out by Don's mere presence
>tries to blackmail new boss
>gets btfo
Roger didn't really win though, he fucked over his family, got divorced again, became completely obsolete in the firm, fucked over the Lucky Strike account. He started wealthy and ended wealthy, he just married a French nympho.
all he did was bottle hippie culture and sell it as coca-cola
>he just married a French nympho.
soo..
I'd take the loyal qt 20 year old secretary
>tfw no loyal qt secretary that helps hide your mid-day drinking and keeps your wife from finding out about your whores
>they wouldn't have taken him after being absent for months
lol They literally bought SC&P to get Don, he was Jim Hobard's white whale.
Just give me Meredith please.
Also Roger (I think) says they would take Don back at any time in a phone call.
>tfw I watched the show 2 months ago and unironically can't remember which of the train of women the 20yo secretary was
Fat Betty was pretty based
We all agree, right?
the point of Joan and Peggy's ending is that they contrast with each other.
Joan spent the whole show being a doormat and stands up for herself at the end, Peggy spends the whole show focusing on her career then falls into the arms of one of the first men to show her his penis. Joan doesn't "lose", they both compromise in different ways.
She was a cutie.
I was talking about Jane, but yeah '20 year old secretary' in Mad Men doesn't narrow it down much.
The scene where Don finds out Roger banged Blankenship is so funny
maybe the friends were the ads we made all along
Well put, user. Big brains appreciated.
I always thought the madmen intro was the end with him jumping out the window killing himself
What did he mean by this?
peggy was such a qt then too
I missed this. Episode?
04x07 'The Suitcase', one of my favorite episodes
youtube.com
season 4 episode 7
Back 2 reddit.
Filtered.
How the fuck did I miss this
Quads
You're in for a treat, it's definitely a top 5 episode
As great as mad men is, all ad people should still be killed.
Sounds like commie talk
They don't actually provide anything of value and their insipid garbage is somehow allowed to pollute every public space and every media channel. Have you actually been outside? It's all ugly and tasteless and chaotic. Thank God for Adblock or the internet would be insufferable as well.
It’s a plague upon humanity
>If you don't like being constantly badgered and brainwashed to buy stupid, unnecessary garbage products, you're a commie.
Well, I am a communist but you don't have to be one to realize that advertising is fucking cancer.
