>there was a carthage city called lol
There is, but you are too pleb to find them.
Yes, that's what a capital L looks like.
wtf was Romes problem
>"Ceterum censeo Carthaginem esse delendam", or "Ceterum autem censeo Carthaginem esse delendam" (English: "Furthermore, (moreover) I consider that Carthage must be destroyed")
>The phrase originates from debates held in the Roman Senate prior to the Third Punic War between Rome and Carthage, where Cato is said to have used it as the conclusion to all his speeches in order to push for the war.
much, much too high-level for anyone to follow. both sides were led by geniuses, but conveying why the tactics and strategies were so clever wouldn't be possible for most audience without Lawrence Of Arabia-level writing to provide context.
>literally no pop-cultural awareness of Carthage to draw on, the series would have to establish everything
>Republican Rome wasn't even really the same place as Imperial Rome
>why Hannibal is indisputably one of the all-time best generals
>that whole bit where the Romans just decide not to try to fight Hannibal
>why the counterinvasion worked when fighting him in Italy didn't
>Hannibal doesn't even die and Rome doesn't even really hate him
I'm not saying the human race has gone backwards but mainstream audiences are simply not smart enough to understand the story.
>Carthage was founded by Semetic Phoenicians from the Levant, speaking a Pheonician language and worshiping Canaanite deities
>HURR HANNIBAL WAS BLACK
Every single historical movie is going to be infested with woke shit, so I'd prefer they not be made at all. And what's worse is there actually Sub-Saharan civilizations like the Nubians, Songhai, Mali, and Solomonic dynasty of Ethiopia that you could make 100% historically accurate movies/shows about, but because the average moron has never heard of such things they'll never be considered.
Imagine being so stupid and ideologically possessed that you ignore the truth in favor of lies, because actual history is too difficult for you.
>Around jews, watch yourselves
Romans knew what was up. They didn't take any chances.
he was definitely brown, and he used black light cavalry (who changed sides towards the end of the war). I feel like your anger is off-topic.
Reading about how the Romans saw the Jews is pretty trippy. Normally, the Romans responded to other religions by shrugging and saying something about 'Well, our Gods are the bosses of your Gods' or trying to equivocate between the pantheons ("Jupiter? Zeus? TOTALLY the same guy! Never mind the fact that Latin and Greek religion were seperate things for thousands of years, TOTALLY THE SAME because now all your myths are our myths too. :^)" ); but because the Jews recognized no other Gods except their own - and at the time the Romans believed that certain mortals like Julius Caesar and Augustus could reach the ranks of Godhood - the Romans thought that the Jews were some weird kind of atheist. What's even worse is that the Romans believed that certain rituals to the Gods were what protected Rome from invasion (like the Vestal Virgins for example, who were meant to keep the sacred hearth fire of Rome burning, with that fire being a symbolic hearth for the 'household' of the Roman state. Because we're pre-nation state, Rome is a household, you see. If that fire went out, it was as if Rome was a household that was cold and abandoned; improperly managed and unfitting to live in.); so not only were Jews some kind of non-believer, but actively subverting the state of Rome.
He was Middle Eastern brown, not fucking WE WUZ Sub-Saharan black. And yes, I am fucking angry about historical revisionism. It not only legitimizes a given culture, but actively ignores realities that African-descended individuals should actually be proud of. Like the Mali or Songhai, who were so rich that when one king went through Egypt on Haji he destroyed their economy via deflation. Wanna know where the term 'from here to Timbuktu' comes from? Mali Empire. But ask any African American where that is, and they'd think you were asking them to find Atlantis or Lemuria. Utterly ignorant of their own history and what they should actually be proud of.
>legitimizes
Delegitimizes, excuse me.
I would settle for a movie in the Eastern Roman Empire, but that also is not going to happen.
pubic wars
this is a blessed image
>D'Annunzio
kino
I've always had the idea that hannibal was north african, so how the fuck can people think he is black exactly ?
African=black
It's the same reason retards think Egyptians were black.
at least there are games
They haven’t actually been to North Africa or seen the people there. Americans (Afro-Americans or otherwise) think every African looks either like a congolese giga nigga or a Somalian skeleton, with no in between
What the fuck are ethiopians, berbers or what
Arabs live there, Semitic people lived there.
oy vey we was Carthage and schvantz
These are the same people who think Cleopatra was a black nubian princess. People are dumb, and even more uneducated than that
Wasn't the historical Cato kind of an asshole? I remember trying to read Plutarch's writings, the one about the biographies of famous men throughout Greek and Roman history. I think he said that Cato used to beat up his slaves and overwork them. He was also a fearsome Roman soldier. I also read on some internet forum that Cato was also a cabbage freak, like he ate a lot of cabbage. I got nothing against cabbage, but I think I remember from the Underground Wellness podcast that eating vegetables like cabbage, too much cabbage, can cause thyroid problems.
Anyway, here is a link to what eating too much cabbage can do to a person: medicaldaily.com
Found it: en.wikipedia.org
"... noted for his chilling advice on keeping slaves continually at work, on reducing rations for slaves when sick, and on selling slaves that are old or sickly.[37]"
Most slaves in Rome were Europeans.
The Ancient Romans had conducted expeditions into Africa and probably even met Sub-Saharan Africans: en.wikipedia.org
There were also Romans who were Sub-Saharan Africans in the Empire: en.wikipedia.org
Lol
WE WUZ SENATORS
no one is arguing otherwise, it's just that why would hannibal be black when all records lead to him being north african
*smacks lips*
>first thing I thought seeing this picture
my brain's a rotted vegetable isn't it
>Utterly ignorant of their own history and what they should actually be proud of.
How are thousand year old achievements of people you've never met anything to be proud of? Be it Mali, Roman Empire, whatever. Mutts with their identity crisis are something else, I swear to god. Growing up among multiculturalism truly is torture for the human psyche.
