Every single historical movie is going to be infested with woke shit, so I'd prefer they not be made at all. Reading about how the Romans saw the Jews is pretty trippy. Normally, the Romans responded to other religions by shrugging and saying something about 'Well, our Gods are the bosses of your Gods' or trying to equivocate between the pantheons ("Jupiter? Zeus? What's even worse is that the Romans believed that certain rituals to the Gods were what protected Rome from invasion (like the Vestal Virgins for example, who were meant to keep the sacred hearth fire of Rome burning, with that fire being a symbolic hearth for the 'household' of the Roman state. Because we're pre-nation state, Rome is a household, you see. If that fire went out, it was as if Rome was a household that was cold and abandoned; improperly managed and unfitting to live in.); so not only were Jews some kind of non-believer, but actively subverting the state of Rome.

Wasn't the historical Cato kind of an asshole? I remember trying to read Plutarch's writings, the one about the biographies of famous men throughout Greek and Roman history. I think he said that Cato used to beat up his slaves and overwork them. He was also a fearsome Roman soldier. I also read on some internet forum that Cato was also a cabbage freak, like he ate a lot of cabbage. I got nothing against cabbage, but I think I remember from the Underground Wellness podcast that eating vegetables like cabbage, too much cabbage, can cause thyroid problems.
