Capeshit will never be mature or deep. It's not designed to be. Studios and manchildren audiences want to have their cake and eat it too, so they make generic capeshit movies that superficially pay lip service to vague concepts of maturity and grittiness, but it's all cosmetic. All superhero movies that operate within those parameters are fundamentally pretentious and inauthentic.
There's an old quote from Roger Ebert (yeah I know you all hate him but hear me out here) about Batman '89 where he said that a superhero film could never be a film noir because film noir doesn't have heroes. And he was right, and it still applies today.
