What are some good movies about ancient egypt?
I don't want stuff like The Mummy, but something a bit historically accurate

The Mummy 2

>historically accurate
The Battle of Kadesh is one of the earliest historical battles that we have not only many details but even, somewhat, the order of battle down to division names like "ra division" and so on, the battle is featured in the christian bale movie exodus: gods of egypt which is actually kind of fucking good, especially the battle scene. pretty much a rome: tw battle in real life with egyptian chariot archers.

Probably only 1960s stuff like "Pharaoh" (1966) or "Cleopatra" (1963) then. If you don't care about historical accurancy, check "Nefertiti Queen of the Nile" and "Land of Pharaohs" for more campy ones.

The white man would never allow the true history of the Kangs to be filmed.

this. the christians finally got their revenge 4 centuries after their son of god died.

Alexandria library, ptolemy era.

I think the movie took place around 400 ad so long after the last ptolemy cleopatra died. she died before augustus became emperor.

Is this the movie that popularized the myth that the library of Alexandria was burned by Christians?

You might be right, but I don't think that many people were aware of it.

Didn't it burn during war between Cleopatra and her brother?

10 Commandments
The Egyptian

there's 2 or 3 episodes of Rome

stargate

I don't know why people didn't like Exodus, it's an interesting take and I'm surprised Fedoras don't worship it.

Exodus Gods and Kings is based.

I use footage from it in my documentary:

yes around that time iirc, probably artistic license

Is this a Terrence MacKenna "actually
Eve ate a mushroom" kind of pure conjecture, or is it more realistic topics like St John of Patmos tripping writing Revelations?

the link he referred to there said nothing about the library not being burned by christians. it just disproves that christians hated logic or science. it is historically accurate that the serapeum was burned down by a faction of christianity that were at odds with one another during that time. this was in the movie too. cyril and orestes was there and how she was plunged in the middle of that conflict but the movie did suggest that she was killed because she loves science.
it was accidentally burned down by julius caesar during the civil war but was rebuilt. still it slowly disappeared due to lack of support. only the serapeum remained around that time in the movie.

It's interesting how each of the 3 had a subculture of reality hacking mystics (Kabbalists Sufis and Gnostics) but the Christians eventually killed their's.

It was fucking terrible bro.
It's a Ridley Scott historical epic starring dubsman, don't think Yea Forums didn't try as hard as it could to like the movie.

I liked it. I wasn't the greatest shit ever but I can't think of a single bad thing about it.
