so how was the finale and the show overall? whats the consensus?

Everyone is on honeymoon fellating eachother on how much the show was great. Give it some more days and more discussions will open up.
It was good but plenty of open plots left behind, like oliver in s2 asking Farouk what is One plus One and that he would be the one to kill him.
They did everything they could to make David look bad and syd look the saviour but they failed miserably, mostly because David's actor was too good and made legion look simpatetic.
Almost everyone finds syd and insufferable cunt and that's because her character wasn't developped at all: she's the hero now so you better like her or else. People reacted badly obviously

Lenny was also just dragged along after season, because she was kinda fan favourite, but felt many times they couldnt do anythinf with her. (tho she still had some heavy role, but these were only 1-2 event.)

Finale was decent. Didn't satisfy all plot threads, and Farouk's change was unconvincing, but was still heartfelt. Overall seasons are: 1>3>2
Also Syd's a cunt and a triple rapist.

It could get a little too up its own ass for my tastes with the musical interludes and whatnot, especially later on...but overall I thought the show was very good. The final moments of the finale were touching. Young Xavier was well cast.

There wasn't much else to do with her, besides most of the attention had to focus on Switch. And that awful astral plane episode for syd. Melanie and oliver deserved a much bigger sendoff

They did an interview with the actor and he confirmed Farouk turned good. Sadly. They could've pulled some good plot twist where he "drugs" Charles while they drink toghether and bamboozle him into helping him. Charles was young and naive, could have worked. Oh well

I like the thought of Farouk being changed by his journey and his time with David. I’ve always hated how one-dimensional he is in the comics.

It is a very weird ending
Technically the world did get destroyed, everything past that point in time never happened, seven billion people were killed because David couldn't accept having done some bad things in the past
Syd is also complicit in that she suddenly developed some empathy for rapist mass murderer david due to her also being a rapist who happened to have a second childhood
Yet they all treat it as some sort of beautiful thing because in the end none of the mutants ever gave a mad fuck about human lives
I'm not sure if the ending was meant to be taken literally as the feelgood ending it was presented as, or if these dark undertones are intentional. Farouk also managed to keep ahold of his body and his empire plus the memories of the future timeline, and xavier respects his right to exist now so he pretty much got everything he wanted out of life

Understandable. Maybe 1 more season to flesh out more his transition would have helped

technically it was all done so whatever horrible event that could happen won't. legion overtaking and killing everyone or thousands dying because of david and farouk.
in the new timeline nobody will die because of them and charles will become a leader of mutants

It depends on how you consider the deleted timeline. If you believe those people are real, that they matter, that they're not just Shadows in a cave (remember oliver's monologues in s2?) then the ending is far from good because they committed mass genocide to fix some people feefees.
However If you believe they simply stop existing retroactively (like David believed) then there's no harm done and the whole show is just a bad dream. Sorta. It just ends with a debate on what is real and what isn't

If David got killed, the end result would have been the same. Apocalypse would still be averted.
The whole reason for going back in time is that David could not stomach being the bad guy and having committed bad acts. In the end he stops existing, but so does everyone else from that timeline.

Nah David did plenty of shit and is far from innocent but is also far from being the sole source of damage. Farouk killed a boatload of random people and grunts and god knows how many other freaks were around.
With the new timeline you can also add Charles and his mutant school witch is a net gain on the plus side. Not to mention having a reality warper that's not batshit insane (David) can be pretty handy

The way they made everyone turn on David to make season 3 happen was a bit forced and how Farouk's supposed change of heart was opportunistic at best was a bit puzzling but I can overlook it because this was a truly unique show and some of the best TV in the last 10 years.
