Never felt the need to tear up at any point. The only movie in recent memory that I’ve actually had to hold back shedding a year is the recent lion king, but that’s just easy tugging at the heart strings with that movie

This was all too much. It was a nice idea, a climatic point where all of the heroes that have been built up over the years come to fight the final battle. The problem was it felt meaningless once the fight began, just so much activity and CGI thrown in just to distract you. Too much activity and action all at once without a good focus, as a result I kinda zoned out a little bit.

Will the climax of Endgame ever be surpassed in Cinema for the next decade? I rewatched the Avengers assemble scene again on youtube 10 minutes ago and cried and bump-fisted the air just like I did the first time.
Seriously it´s every damn hero and character I´ve cared about for the past decade coming together with kickass music telling me everything will be fine now, I felt like a kid cheering for Goku to save the day once again. But it wasn´t just awesome, it was stupidly big and full of named characters, I still can´t wrap my head about it being real.

It’s the happiest I’ve been since my wedding honestly. And I’m a really happy dude. There’s just something about the music, the build up, everything is just perfection. It’s the culmination of childhood dreams and adult expectations put into a single moment. I literally get ready eyed just thinking about it. A very special moment in my life for sure.
Cap finally saying "Avengers, assemble" got a reaction from my theater not unlike all of the heroes on screen. People fucking cheered and came up out of their seats with fists raised and clapped and I'm tearing up just thinking about it. I am so grateful to Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios for building this cinematic universe and knocking it out of the fucking park in my lifetime.

I'm sad the Infinity Saga is over, but I'm so happy about the journey.

This scene alone had more soul than the entirety of Endgame, and I say that as someone who walked out of Justice League. SöyHulk and SöyThor were essentially completely new characters that had no relation to previous portrayals, for instance. Think for just one moment about what you’re saying. Black Panther worked better in Civil War with zero build-up than he did in any subsequent film, and not just because they made awful alterations to his costume. Spidey also worked fine with no build up in Civil War. If we move beyond live-action cartoons and into real movies, look to classics like Psycho, Pierrot le fou, Vertigo, etc to see how powerfully impactful scenes can be even without any establishing context. The opening scenes of The Dark Knight, There Will Be Blood, Children of Men, Inglorious Basterds, Goldeneye, and countless others leave you immediately invested in the action - infinitely moreso than any Disney capeshit - without having ever been introduced to any of the characters. Infinity War was leaps and bounds better than Endgame, but it still has some major flaws. The Hulk arc sucks, the final battle in Wakanda is very weak - especially compared to the Titan battle - and some of the gags are really lame.

Cap's shield isn't magic, they go out of their way to specifically show that it bounces off things and comes back to him, even if they have to use camera cuts to make it work.

Kinda. I just watched Endgame the other day so I'm not all set, but the lack of a good villain was really big. Thanos is an excellent villain in IW, but then in Endgame the antagonists are an impersonal shadow of Thanos and made up physics.

As the ending it also had more things it needed to do. Ragnarok and IW both sidelined Hulk and delayed his much needed character development, which could be excused if it was then dealt with well in a later movie, but it wasn't as it's all resolved off-sceen during a timeskip and they live reasonably-angrily ever after, without serving much of a role in the movie.

Then Thor of course, whose character arc finished in tragedy in IW so they had to artificially drag it out here just to include him, he had nothing to do except reset his character development, so much screentime when he would have been better off snapped (would've made sense of Valkyrie leading Asgard too as she would have had to do so for 5 years already). For the Avengers movie to give all these characters a satisfying ending, it failed big time for two of them. Cut the Fortnite jokes and Captain Marvel shit to make room for Hulk development and re-do/semi-cut Thor, and it still has a weak antagonist but at least every protagonist gets a satisfying ending.
