However, Disney can strike up a deal with Studio Ghibli where they will get home video, theatrical, television, streaming and digital distribution rights for all Ghibli films.
I really hope it will happen.
Ghibli will still be an independent company, Disney will have no creative control over Ghibli, Disney cannot tamper with Ghibli's films other than doing translations, and Ghibli will still keep the merchandising licenses.
Studio Ghibli films will get Marvel-tier marketing for their theatrical releases, especially in Asia since Asia (particularly China) loves Ghibli to the point that a remaster of Spirited Away managed to beat Toy Story 4 in the Chinese box office.

I also hope that they finally release the Ghibli Museum short films on Blu-ray and Disney+ when this happens.

And Disney will also strike up a deal with arthouse cinemas where a selection Ghibli films will be shown in arthouse cinemas once a year.

I also really hope that when this happens, many of the previously Japan-only releases by Ghibli such as the pre-Ghibli stuff like The Great Adventure of Horus and Chie the Brat, as well as many behind-the-scenes documentaries, will be released and localized by Disney worldwide on Disney+ and Blu-ray (if we're lucky).

There will soon come a time when an anime film and a 2D animated film will make over a billion dollars, maybe it will even beat The Lion King remake for highest-grossing animated film from China money alone, let alone the rest of Asia and even Europe and America.

Why would disney buy any of those things, and most importantly why the fuck would Warner sell DC or Looney Toons?
