I mainly want to see monsters which haven’t been represented in a long time, particularly Destroyah, Titanosaurus, and any of the Monster Island crew.
I also would like to see some tension between monsters. I feel like a lot of people’s enjoyment of Godzilla movies comes from seeing the monsters as characters, rather than plot devices.

Honestly seeing as how GvK was filmed in and apparently has some key scenes set in Hong Kong (pic related, t-shirt made for production crew in HK) I’m honestly worried that with an Chinese military crackdown seemingly imminent over the recent unrest in HK the film is either going to get delayed, banned from China, or pulled altogether, all of which would probably torpedo it

Godzilla is definitely more heroic which some even more well known fans have problems with as if Kong was usually the hero. In Monsterverse he's still sympathetic because he's defending his home but unlike him Godzilla never even initiates the aggression with humans and at the end actively keeps other monsters away from the cities. That's more than just impersonal embodiment of nature Godzilla honors his alliances.

If things go worse it will remind people of what's going on in the real world. But don't count on Legendary or the director or anyone ever mention it.

Kong doesn't stand a chance. DESU, I'd rather watch Godzilla vs Pacific Rim Jaegers. Would have been more interesting. Do they plan on giving Kong growth hormones and some gimmicky superattack? Meh. Not impressed.

The Jaegers are also pretty damn small, the category 5 Kaijus were still smaller than Showa Godzilla.

Ready Player One also used original Godzilla theme somehow. It wasn't as advertised but I guess it was part of a similar deal and it probably wasn't cheap.

RPO was what raised my hopes that the theme would be used in KotM though my hopes weren't that high, clicking the youtube suggestion for Godzilla's theme was the biggest mistake of my life, no spoiler could compared to hearing that beforehand.
Fortunately the only person i know who's also into kaiju didn't know anything so i could see his reaction on the theater, good stuff

Best case scenario for me is that vs Kong is a solid movie that absolutely tanks so Toho takes back control and starts making movies with people in suits again since I prefer that to cg anyways. I liked KOTM but it got a lot wrong. I did not like 2014.

Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla and Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla 2 are the finest Godzilla films by a mile and each for different reasons. If I had to recommend a newcomer to watch a couple movies to get the full range of the series it would be those two without question.

There's at least one Godzilla youtuber who firmly believes that the throwaway "for now" line is a set up for a complete change of established mythos in the next movie and is acting really passive aggresive about it.
I'm sure everybody here knows it but if history of the characters is supposed to be the truth then so far in his history Kong has been a clear hero only once (the movie was based on a cartoon) and totally ambiguous in all other instances.

I haven't seen Terror yet but I'm hoping to soon. I own every hdx (blu-ray) quality godzilla movie available on Vudu and would like to continue owning the series digitally at me preferred storefront but I'm very close to breaking down and getting the Showa blu-ray collection when it comes out, Terror, Invasion of Astro Monster, all the later Gamera films and some others that I haven't seen yet on disc. I only started watching the movies this year and have had a blast so far, even the shittier ones are a good watch at least once

Some of them are pain in the ass to find but I have every Toho sci fi movie with or without monsters. And as for other movies Gamera was a chore. His first three movies are passable but it's all nonsense from then on until the 90s where things get good.

i didn't really focus on it in the theater but after rewatching a couple times, it really is a phenomenal score that carries the film.

My biggest grievance with the movie is that the soundtrack isn't loud enough, it's really hard to hear the chants in Ghidorah's theme or the taiko cheer in RO-DAN. Like motherfucker, Old Rivals has the chant appearing the moment Godzilla is hit by the rays and is falling making the loudest noises possible

the score is so good, that you can cut out the dialouge and just keep the sound effects and monster noises on and you have a much better movie

I think we need to hear from the Japanese audience on how they felt about the movie the most.
Even on my first viewing, noticed that china gets the martyr Kaiju that helps saves the world, and the twins are also chinese, while the only jap ends up being a martyr as well but what do they have afterwards.
There needs to be a Kaiju that comes out of Mt. Fuji and it needs to be one that kicks ass.
