Sort of related, but spoilers for anyone who hasn't read Spawn the comic series.

So Spawn is about a guy named Al Simmons, who is a mercenary for the government, and is married to his wife Wanda who literally means everything to him. He dies while out on a mission, and when he dies his soul goes to Hell, where he sits before Malebolgia, the demon prince, and is offered the chance to go back to Earth to see his wife again, as long as he serves Hell as one of their champions in the coming war. He agrees in a second and goes back to Earth, but he's not himself anymore, instead he's this burnt, charred corpse covered in a living suit of chains and spikes and he is so hideous that he can't actually go back to see his wife because she wouldn't recognize him. Also 5 years have passed since he died and she's married to his best friend Terry now anyway. So he goes off to live in a back alley in New York City and spends his days there.

At the very end of the series, Al actually has the power to turn himself back and go see his wife finally, something he's tried to do many, many times over the course of the comic's run, but he is stopped by "God" (actually God's mom), who says he can't. He goes anyway in ghost form and sees Wanda and Terry arguing, and he & Terry learn from that argument that Al had always been violent and abusive to Wanda, culminating in him punching her in the stomach when she told him she was pregnant to try and get him to stop going out on missions. He killed the baby and nearly her, and she was going to leave him, but he died instead. Everything after is his punishment & penance for that.

I mention all that to say this; I can't say I'm positive, but I am fairly sure the writers are going to pull the same story move with Butcher, and use essentially the last episode to reveal that his wife cheating & leaving him and everything that happened to him since is essentially punishment for his crime of beating her and being an abusive douche.

Mostly because they spent literally 0 time in the series introducing Noir, telling us what he can do, who he is, anything about him. We meet literally all the other heroes because their character and personalities matter, but Noir we don't because the writers likely decided to drop it. Otherwise they'd have to (if they were competent) at least put a flag in there to give us SOME sort of hint that maybe what we're seeing with the Homelander security footage isn't exactly as it seems, but they don't do that.

There's too little characterization of the guy to just say "Yeah he knew about the meeting, he borrowed one of Homelander's suits, combed his hair and pretended to be the guy just to fuck this random chick that Homelander hit on at the party.", especially after giving us no indication in any way that the guy is even capable of such a thing.

Also why would it even happen? Did Homelander send Noir to do it? Was it just Noir at the party? How did he know about the meeting and how did he insert himself into that place at all?

So we know, at least we're told via exposition, that ALL supers are made by injecting babies with Compound V, and we know by being shown it that their powers develop and manifest at close to full strength when they're literally newborn infants (baby laser eyes). We're also told by Translucent that he has super strong skin and he's clearly bulletproof. This MAY be only while he's invisible, but I don't think his dialogue implies it is. Maeve is also bulletproof and super strong, enough to not flinch while an armored truck hits her at full speed.

However A-Train is not super durable at all, I don't think Annie is, Mesmer certainly isn't, I don't think Popclaw is, and Asian Girl isn't.

So I think it's kind of random, people are just sort of as strong or tough as the story needs them to be? To be honest, there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to who gets what powers from Compound V, because if one person can get flight, invulnerability, laser eyes, strength, and X-ray vision, and one person just gets the ability to touch you and see your past, that's kind of wonky.

There’s several artists that worked on the series. The guy who drew that is one of the better ones. A bit of same face, but it’s a lot better than the “clearly traced image of an actor” that was prevalent in the early stuff.

This artist and Ennis later teamed up on a James Bond parody called Jimmy’s Bastards, it’s real good.

Aside from fancy shit like Mad Men and Twin Peaks, this show was as good as TV gets these days. There is no reason to think that the creative team won't continue to deliver, especially if it's just going to be 8 episodes per year.

The comic has a good premise with terrible execution. There are some highs, but it's mostly just okay. Many of the show changes have been for the better.
