What, exactly? When did humanity gave up on wanting the future to be good?

This is the future without minorities

2001 - 2008/9
International terrorism and the global economy going down the shitter will do that
It's why 2002-2005/6 movies are so upbeat and colourful and everything 2008 through maybe 11 or 12 was all drained and sad, and now we're sort of out the other side of it but not in a good way

That scene specifically reminds me of the Brady Bunch movie, without some of the more futuristic aspects.

>detroit: become white

>It's why 2002-2005/6 movies are so upbeat and colourful
Honestly, yeah, media in general was much more upbeat during that period. From movies to even comic books. Although I'd add 2007 to that as well. You can see that even a flick like Disturbia was still pretty upbeat. 2008 is when things started going to shit.

You poor poor gay zoomers. 2002 was the last of anything good in the world.

>m-muh childhood was DA BEST

Christ you autist, due to 9/11 American Media became heavily militaristic and ushered in an era of "MURICA, FUCK YEAH" which was upbeat due to its nature.

you contradicted yourself dipshit

its just that international style modern architecture lost its appeal. we are now in ironic postmodernism.

How? If you mean that society didn't instantly become grimdark and edgy on September 12th well yeah no shit, social trends take years to percolate down
2002-5 were still desperately riding the wave of 90s optimism, after any major game changing event it takes a while to settle into 'this is what the world is like now', that's when the real changes start

Yeah the woman seems to be locked up in a glass cage

>Christ you autist, due to 9/11 American Media became heavily militaristic and ushered in an era of "MURICA, FUCK YEAH" which was upbeat due to its nature.

The fuck are you talking about? The most masculine movies featuring America were made before 2003. American media didn't become militaristic. The American media already hated America at that point, but boy oh boy, did it sure love that America was fighting Israels enemies. The media didn't showcase everything that made American society great, it showcased a warmongering America, and acted as if that was a good thing.

It’s hard to be upbeat after a huge economic crash, arguably one of the most important because it marked the era of the end of the west, subconsciously the west has given up on hope

I don't care about the news; we're talking about media. Look at Marvel's Ultimate line, their big relaunch and how they tackled it. Look at the shows of the time, like L O S T or even Nip/Tuck. Look at all the Bay Blockbusters. Look at the games. It was an era of glorification of millitary might with no real criticism. The news themselves are irrelevant; it's all about the media and the atmosphere.
