Why are there a lot of Season 10 Apologists in the Simpsons fanbase?
Like every time someone on a forum or something says "seasons 1-9 were the classics", oftentimes someone else will butt in with "Hey man, include 10 too." Is it merely because 10 is a nice round number?

Simpsons isn't like it used to be. Nowadays, it seems like fewer and fewer people can recall some of the funniest episodes of the show. Everyone at my own school years ago would always reference the Simpsons. Even our teacher would show us the Christmas special on the day before break. Deep down, I never really cared for the Simpsons. Some people were fanatics, but I would only catch an episode or two if it was on TV. For a 30 year old show, it really hasn't held up too well. Exactly when the breaking point was I don't know. Eventually I think that everyone will come to fruition that the show should be cancelled. Dan Castellaneta, the guy who plays Homer, sounds more tired in the new episodes. About the time I graduated high school, I completely forgot about the show until my senior year of college when I found an old Simpsons VHS at a garage sale. Not that I had any strong sentimental feelings per se, I still felt a bit of nostalgic remorse for a time when everyone enjoyed the Simpsons. Disney will probably cancel the show if it doesn't rack in more money, now that they own FOX and its assets (including the Simpsons). Sadly, even if they put their show on their new streaming service, I don't think many people will even notice. Either they will cancel the show or do something drastic (like killing or removing a main character) if they want to maintain viewership. End times for the Simpsons are quickly approaching I think. Don't think of it as a complete loss though; Groening wanted everyone to read the first letter of every sentence.

10 and 11 are ok

Season 8 is as far as I'll go. No one should experience the absolute destruction of Skinner's long established character in season 9.

Season 8 and 9 suck

8 and triply especially 9 the wheels start to fall off, but 10 is an absolute cliff. That being said, the show was merely mediocre the next couple seasons. The animators and voice actors will still giving it their all, even if the writers were checked out. To me, the Simpsons didn't get unwatchably terrible until Season 14
