Why didn't the resistance uses ACTUAL established bombers?

Instead of slow, large, weak bombers?

This is what I hate the most. Disney pays so much to use the plethora of ships and aliens in the star wars universe and they barely touch any of it... blows my mind

Gotta sell those toys

Someone in charge told a subordinate that they needed to have symbolism to mimic world war two level bombers, and this is stupid in enough ways that trying to briefly talk about each way would still take a long time.

Why does the Republic only have 1 frigate and like 300 people whereas the Empire (who should be rebels now) have endless armies and gigantic super weapons?

Rian Johnson is a hack. Nigger can't understand WW2 warfare. He could easily used sinking of the Bismarck or Yamato as inspiration for that arc, but went full retard and went with Allied strategic bombing on cities.

>use Bismarck as inspiration
>Rebels have space equivalent of pic related and destroys the Dreadnought without losing a single aircraft

Attached: 300px-Swordfish_(7582559196).jpg (300x204, 10K)

Because lefties can't function unless they feel like, simultaneously, they are both the underdogs and vastly superior, so the mook armies of the empire come out of every corner of the galaxy in huge menacing battleships to get blown to bits by like 12 people.

The Bismarck is already been alluded to by the deathstar bombing
An incredibly lucky run that hits a weak point of a massive juggernaut

Rogue One had the y-wings being used as bombers

Because Star Wars is now may by assholes, jews and hipsters.

Rogue One also got obliterated during editing. The pre-2016 election version was probably as egregious as Solo and other new movie.

In universe the new republic began wide spread disarmament. The First Order was quietly funded and supplied by silent yet rich backers while the resistance was more or less soley funded by Leia

Even when the Allies did use heavy bombers to attack a big ship, they didn't drop a bunch of tiny bombs on it, they dropped a couple of big motherfuckers.

We're doing World War II In Spess, OK, but literally, instead of making it look cool!
The bombers will be B-32's with the the wings folded down and they'll all die because Catch 22!

Attached: BRILLIANT_.jpg (795x595, 59K)

> An open air cockpit space biplane.
This is how you save a franchise.

They could have played it off as the rebels being forced to buy shitty off-brands due to funding if they were self aware

Wow, so TFO is basically 1947 Israel being founded by the Rockefellers buying post-ww2 tanks and planes. What an epic red pill.

Because apparently they have to pay 25% royalties to Lucas for any character or design made during his reign. Why do you think everything looks just a bit different?

Wasn't it more the dambusters?

I'd say it's more like America funding cold war era Afghanistan

Are they not bombers tho?

When Starwars wasn't a soulless franchise (the era when it was still new) everyone thought of the empire as the Soviets except for Jews. The Deathstar was basically seen as a euphemism for what being a loser in the race for the ICBM and interceptors may be like.

>no air supremacy
>use bombers

Literally turn your brain off and have sex

Lucas, the 4d chess master

well then they need to either come up with better stuff or chalk up the money for what people want to see. wouldve probably made them more in the long run

Lucas did the exact same thing in the Prequel Trilogy. There were no new ships or vehicles, only retools of what existed in the Original Trilogy.

Then they should have just saved their money and come up with a different sci-fi trilogy.

What do lefties have to do with this discussion?

Well that made sense since it was prequel.

that's not true at all wtf? the prequels introduced dozens of cool new ships that look nothing like anything from the original movies

Not even remotely correct
Did you just snort coke during every movie?

That's their primary function, yes. Though we only see that function in the EU materials.

Because the script says they all had to get blown up and it had to end in failure. The script never said any of it had to make sense.

This but unironically.

>muh j00z
Lucas literally said he based the EMpire on nazi germany

I really hate the new vehicles

I don’t mean the one you posted. I get that it’s jist a proto-y-wing, but I mean shit like this when gunships have been established as not only being space-capable but also perfectly capable of dishing out damage and creating safe zones while carrying infantry. The U-wing as well. I could accept it if it was a fighter but it’s also pretty much just a worse imperial shuttle

Weird because nobody that actually watched that movie besides the ever neurotic Jews would assume big evil empire at the height of the cold war must mean Nazi Germany. Could Jewish people have some disproportionate influence due to their nepotism that would cause Lucas to change details about his story in strange ways?

Literally every ship on screen was a precursor to one from the OT. The only "new" thing was the A-6 Juggernaut tank.

Attached: JuggernautROTS.jpg (1600x1200, 852K)

People sperg out too much about this. The scene was written in such a way it it required slow and shitty bombers, and a new ship in a Star Wars movie isn't something I have a problem with. The Disney stuff fellates the OT designs a bit too much. I wish all of the ships were new designs.
All it needed was a throw away line of exposition to explain why they couldn't use Y-Wings.
>been taking heavy losses lately, have to rely on donated ships from out allies on Trash Planet
Done.

Nigga how does this even make sense? Are you retarded?

So the idea of a small underpowered force defeating a larger superior force, which has existed for as long as storytelling has, is now a "leftist" thing?

>guys lucas is just retooling everything
>did you even watch any of the prequels because literally every visual design in it was unique to them
>guys the only thing that wasn't a precursor was

Attached: goal posts shifting.gif (410x324, 97K)

>guys there was once exception that means everything ever is invalidated and we win by default, wagga wagga boo boo!

Rogue 1's Space Battle is the best Star Wars Space Battle ever put to film prove me wrong
>Formation tactics
>Y-wings screening their advance by hiding above the rebel capital ship until their bombing run
>Set objective in space the two fleets are battling to control

There's really no contest here.

Okay, if another billion dollar movie like TLJ is trying to get the audience to feel bad for a right wing Holdo while also letting him break the rules of reality to the point where all logic in the universe fails then tell me, because I can't think of an example.

Well, in as much as a fighter jet always looks like a fighter jet.

That would take focus away from more X-wings and TIE fighters.

I think you're just trying to throw politics and ranting about a political group you despise for whatever reason at films in order to make yourself angry.

see

>X-Wing and TIE analogues in ROTS
>Star Destroyer predecessors and A-Wing lookalike Jedi fighter in ATOC
>mini Death Stars in wedding rings and a Rebel Blockade Runner-style ship in TPM

>providence class dreadnaught
>lucrehulk class battleship
>venator class carrier
>droidekas
>LA AT gunships
>droid army in general
>general previous
Oh yeah sure no new designs anywhere but the juggernaught

Empire was always America, and Rebels were Vietcong. This is literally what Lucas himself thought about the set up.

>you're just trying to make yourself angry
>movie literally plays the opinions of some jewess with a straight face when it defies all observation that she's a fucking idiot, to the point where when running out of time to make this less blatant the writers just say fuck it she can break all in universe rules to redeem herself
Yeah, no political preferences here goy

How about Tie Fighter?

It's baffling that they were created by the same people, the same exact art team from the prequels works currently on Disney-wars.

Agree that all of the sequel ships are shit.
Rogue One's contribution of the U-Wing is so far the only one I like. It being a worse imperial shuttle fits for the Rebellion, and I actually think it looks fine.

okay u dumb nigger

Attached: image.jpg (600x342, 35K)

I would like to remind everyone that hyper-ram was the most retarded thing Rian made up and it wont be used or mentioned ever again in the future.

God the Prequels has some fine ass ships. Fine ass aesthetics too.

>ARC-170
>LAAT
>AT-TE
The Clone Wars era had some of the best vehicle design, but the later seasons of the animated series fucked that up.

What capital ship is that a silhouette of? It looks like a cross between the venator and acclimator but not quite either

Watching shit like this makes me mad that there's essentially 0 good Star Wars Fighter games in the works.
Fuck EA and fuck Disney.

I have to fucking laugh at this, because anyone with even the most basic knowledge of history knows that wasnt the way bombers worked in WW2.

I suspect their knowledge was limited to COD, maybe Saving Private Ryan if I'm being generous

why did we hate it?

i remember people liking the prequels a lot until the Red Letter Media reviews came out.

Friendly reminder that the ARC 170 is THE most aesthetic and underrated ship in star wars

>Designed specifically to recon and do raids deep in enemy territory which could last days
>Has enough rations to operate for said days
>Has enough shielding and armament to take on fucking capital ships alone
>Multipurpose starship, can serve as a bomber and a fighter at the same time
>Has 2 tail guns to shoot down enemy fighters on its tail
>So good that according to lore, both Empire and Rebels still use them and consider them elite craft

Attached: Arc170 120dpi.jpg (1600x1159, 196K)

>With current tech we could have 128 person lobbies with ships of all sizes going at it with John Williams score blazing in the background
It hurts

They failed on all levels with nuwars

they were cowards who wanted to have the same xwings, tie fighters etc because those thing are nostalgic. fucking no.

They should have made completely new shit. You can have hints of the old, but copying the old designs was just a fucking bad move. Imagine if their was new lines of cool toys and interesting new tech instead of rose dolls. They might have sold shit, kids might be into it. Kids aren't into 40 year old looking pieces of shit that don't have the nostalgia you do.

Not to mention the level bombers, which probably push their bombs out with some sort of scifi tech, are in space. They could have just launched the bombs from where they started and still hit the target because there was no planetary gravity that would have been pulling their bombs away from the dreadnought.

> designed for recon
> can take on capital ships alone
> can be a fighter or a bomber
Is this the Rey of star fighters?

Laura Dern isn't jewish.

I wonder how the sequels will be remembered in 10 years
if at all

>crew of 3
More like a blastboat than a fighter or bomber

What's great about many prequel ships is that they look like precursors to many of the OT ships, but are also distinctive enough that you could never confuse the two films. The ST tries to take OT ships and "make them better" rather than letting their designs evolve into distinctive new ones. For example, the Providence cruiser was manufactured by the Quarrens; same planet as the Mon Calamari, who made the MC80s. You can see similar design philosophies in that both are broadside ships with a bullet-like shape to them and have external bridges, but they look completely different despite this.

The prequels have bad tone problems, some really goofy dialogue, and lots of just plain uninteresting parts. Lucas seemed like he had a books worth of story to tell while only having the time of a movie to do it in. The February 1977 version of the epIV text crawl definitely makes things feel that way.

No one really talks about them now. They've had no impression on culture like the original or even prequel trilogies did.

She's ugly enough to fool me

True. I think Star Wars basically has to start from scratch now. The original trilogy was ruined by Rian so there's nothing left to work with

All courtesy to late great Ralph McQuarrie, from awesome Battlestar Galactica to originally frightening Vader's suit (McQuarrie's one was the basis for Vader's suit, his one was way more grim dark).

There are some problems, but everyone who complained that it looked too different and there weren't any X-Wings were part of the problem.

A more stylized Acclimator. A bit of artistic license to make it fit the visor.

it's kind of amazing just how minimalist and practical the clone-wars jedi fighter was.

I especially loved that they even showed it needed it's docking ring for hyperspace travel. I've always loved that concept.

Only good for losing 3 pilots at once I think you mean.
>according to lore, both Empire and Rebels still use them and consider them elite craft
gonna need a source on that one.

Attached: stormtrooper2%20copy.jpg (426x434, 86K)

Why can’t the r2 be the gunner?

I couldn't even tell you how the AT-ST design differs from the OT. Does it?

100% agreed. Wish it got more screen time

Admit it Yea Forums, you got a big fucking grin when you saw this part on this big screen

>he is in my behind

Definitely gives me an Old Fashioned vibe or budget conscious at the very least

>gonna need a source on that one.

In one of the booklets for the star wars xwing tabletop game and in the Tarkin novel.

Naboo Starfighter
Republic Gunships
Droid Starfighters
General Grievous' Starfighter
Confederacy Battleships

I don't know how intentional it is, and how much George was responding to some of the negativity around Episode 1, but I like how the ornate ships of Episode 1 gradually give way to the grey, utilitarian kinds of designs you see in the OT. Give you a sense of how the war completely wiped out the artistry and romance of the old Republic.

And yet all the ones we saw in the movie were destroyed with one hit by droid fighters five seconds after they first showed up onscreen.

Attack of the Clones seems like the product of a fever dream that Lucas had after watching Blade Runner, Minority Report, and John Carter. The tonal shifts are jarring and we're never really given the full story on what the Confederacy is, their motives, and the Clone Army on the other hand. That's not even mentioning the hamfisted romance between Padme and Anakin. Lucas would've been better off setting up the Clone Wars in TPM and having AOTC be a full blown war story. Would've made ROTS more impactful too.

>Rogue 1
Best SW film since the OT.

TPM went to far back. Ten year old Anakin was a mistake. I think that might be the major mistep of the prequels.
lol

retard

immensely based

Attached: nasa wb-57.jpg (946x710, 522K)

youre conveniently ignoring the fact that the ones we see are used as cannon fodder to help escort Anakin and Obiwan to General Grievous capital ship. (the most heavily defended ship in the battle)

they wouldnt have picked any other ship to do it user

Attached: Spacebattle.jpg (1879x800, 518K)

>these fighters are so awesome they can take on capital ships by themselves!
>three of them get easily wasted by one capital ship so that the stars of the movie can look more amazing

Watching AOTC, it feels like I skipped a movie between it and TPM.
>Who the fuck is Count Dooku?
>How is Nute Gunray free?
>Who the fuck is Master Siphodiyas?
>How many years have passed?
>Why are people hunting Amidala?

>AT-TE
>AT-UT
>AT-RT
>Vulture Droid
>Geonosis Fighter
>Count Dooku's ship

Isn't that like actually a big cultural thing in star wars with humans and most humanoid races?

and part of why the clone wars are even a thing? the separatists are like the only dudes down with using droids for war?

>why does Natalie Portman look the same age, and why is she now in a relationship with an adult version of the child from the last film?

>Because apparently they have to pay 25% royalties to Lucas for any character or design made during his reign.
You should honestly re-think your life if your brain is smooth enough to believe that without applying two seconds of critical thinking. Are you telling me that George has gotten 25% royalties on the last two movies because the millennium falcon is in them?

There were many new ships, dummy. They were the obvious predecessors of OT ships, but they were certainly different.

>>Has enough shielding and armament to take on fucking capital ships alone

Idk man that droid ship with the face made quick work of it.

You think the people who made the new series have ever seen the originals?

No one can possibly be this retarded.

If you were like 6-10 when they came out, maybe.

Are those the X-Wing prototypes that were used during the Clone wars by the intergalactic Republic that would later become the Empire?

Count Dooku - Former Yoda student, leading figure in denouncing Jedi's uselessness and Republic declining.
Nute Gunray - Free due to political wrangling of bloated Republic bureaucracy and a lot of money. Example of Republic failing.
Sipho-Diyas - A Jedi Master with power of foresight. Example of a Jedi over-reliance of their power like foresight that can be manipulated by someone stronger, as in Darth Sidious.
AoTC is 10 years after TPM. Amidala was current Senator representative of Naboo. Why people hunting her, well, she continue to press charged on Nute's crimes and denouncing Dooku's idea on Separatist. On her romance with Anakin, we called it bad writing of George.

Says the one claiming that such a trope is something that leftists created solely to make themselves feel better or whatever dipshit claim you made.

Well when you look at America's history of war they do tend to be defeated by small barely armed militias

Isn't that also how America came into being, by the smaller inferior colonial forces defeating the British military?

I am willing to bet it was better before the reshoots and recuts.

Op image is just a Y-wing with the external cowling on

The original trench run was essentially a direct remake of Dambusters, including AA towers and multiple runs on the target.

Lucas loved all the classic WW2 films, he used dogfighting footage as animatics while planning out the battle sequences in Star Wars.
