>The Masku'sum Man
SHANE?
RONK MASK YASUM
The episode where he walks around to the last pale light is based
THINGS HAVE CHAAAAYNJED, RIYUCK
THINGS AINT LIKE THEY USED TO BE NO MORE, RIYUCK
HOW YOU GONNA KEEP CARL AND LORI SAFE, RIYUCK?
One of the best scenes in all of TWD, does a great job at making you feel bad for him. This and the scene where he’s in the pit with the little girl
TOT YOU WERENT DUH GOOD GHUY ENYMOAR AINT DAT WHATCHU SAID?
AM A BETTER FUTHUR DAN YOU REACKKK
He was hamming it up in a really boring season and made it watchable
he's better than in the comics
The show did go downhill the moment he died
In the show he may not be as compelling as Negan but the Rise of the Governor series elevate him to the best villain in the series, although they are based on the comics ( he's an even bigger psycho who rapes michonne for days in both holes and cuts off rick's hand in their first conflict ). Also the first RotG deals with his family and ends with a twist that is meh if you read it on the wiki but amazing if you follow the book closely.
Negan had a great presence and the actor did a great job but he didn't have as good an overall journey as da guvna
The Governor did NOTHING wrong. Not one time. You're going to try to say he did, but you'll be wrong. Don't (You) me.
Partly because of David Morissey, but also the fact that he was such a relatable human being.
Show Negan is cringe-worthy with his grand posturing. Show Governor was once a guy who worked a shitty job and had some younger dude as his manager that gave him a fuckton of shit. His only solace in life was his wife and daughter. When shit hit the fan, this everyday guy became a ruthless psychopath.
Be honest Yea Forums. If civilization went down and you're one of the few survivors around, wouldn't you indulge in depravity because whose going to stop you, there's no law enforcement or social stigma. When you're constantly under attack by zombies and human bandits, that stress will get to you. Not to mention there's no more running water, access to food, no electricity, and most of all, proper medical facilities/care. Sooner or later, you'd crack and you'd end up like the Governor.
And despite all the vicious shit that he did, I actually rooted for the Governor when he met Lily, Tara, and Megan. He had a 2nd chance to start over again with a new wife and daughter.
I dunno what faggy show or movie you're referring to but I know it fucking sucks and is gay
A daring synthesis
It was one realistic thing about the show. Under extreme situations, a handful of people would thrive and become dominant whereas they may have been mediocre in regular society.
>Under extreme situations, a handful of people would thrive and become dominant whereas they may have been mediocre in regular society.
Exactly.
A lot of people like to scoff and bash people who think they could survive an apocalypse and rise up to power, but it's usually mediocre individuals who take advantage of anarchy to become ruthless warlords and dictators.
Laws and society are what restrain a lot of people from flipping out and going apeshit. Especially the vast majority of wage-slaves who deal with office politics, shit-for-brain managers, and other factors that make people seethe internally with rage. When people lose their creature comforts and threatened with hunger/disease/violence, the masks strip off and you get to see their true colors.
His backstory made him relate-able.
Very much. I wish he wasn't a psychopath but a genuinely good guy who recreated civilization in Woodbury. He and Rick could've been bros and slowly expanded throughout Georgia as they took in more survivors (making sure they exterminate Terminus) and turn the state into a fully-functional place again.
ABSOLUTELY NOTHIN
They actually took him seriously and wasn't a walking meme like Negan turned out to be
That's basically what the Governor did though right? It's been a long time since I watched those episodes but I seem to recall most of his people really liked him. I mean he gave them supplies and shelter, only asking that they earn their keep. He'd even get in there and work alongside them.
He had 3 personas in the show:
1) The friendly leader who protected and fed the people of Woodbury in exchange for their loyalty and keeping the place running
2) The vicious bastard who murdered anyone outside of Woodbury so that he could take advantage of them
3) The broken man who would stare at his fish tanks of decapitated heads and his chained-up zombie daughter
I really wished he would turn over a new leaf and put his past behind him when he met Lily and Megan. And the fact that their box truck didn't break down. Move someplace far away from Georgia and find another community of survivors where he could live in peace.
How many legitimate psychopaths and average people out there who are actually capable of murder and other atrocities are around you, and just pinned down by the fact that they know they'd be punished by the law for doing it?
I'd say quite a few desu.
I agree. While I'd like to think that most people are reasonable and ethical, modern society spawns a lot of hidden psychopaths. Laws and being socially ostracized are what usually prevent these people from carrying out blatantly illegal activities.
I admit that while I wouldn't commit crimes, I would be secretly happy that certain individuals whom I loathe would be dead in an apocalypse or global epidemic or world war. If their family, friends, coworkers, employees, neighbors, classmates, i.e. basically anyone who remembers them besides me are dead too, I'd be cheering myself with scotch because if nobody remembers you, you never existed. And that in itself is the sweetest satisfaction because I'm alive and enjoying life while they're dead along with all their loved ones.
I'd agree with this senpai. Current society (in first world at least) is completely different than the fight for survival it must have been when humans first evolved. An apocalypse like that would just bring out the latent instincts in any who may still possess them.
>lots of development for Rick trying hard not to turn out like the Governor even years after the guy is dead
>faggot shitfuck Cuckman kills Rick off anyway to be more in line with the show
Only the men who are willing to kill others for survival and dominance would rise on top. It'd be like ancient and feudal times when strongmen could rape, murder, and pillage to their heart's content while women would get wet for these alpha psychos. Ever wonder why women idolize good-looking serial killers like Ted Bundy?
TWD used to have really good music, that scene in particular is probably the best in the series. Great song.
>Move someplace far away from Georgia and find another community of survivors where he could live in peace.
I thought the point of that arc was pretty much that he was too far gone. He had a compulsion to take over and control as soon as things didn't live up to his standards. Wherever he ended up he was always going to be the Governor.
When he threw the Hispanic guy(name) that deserted him into the walker pit. that was fucking kino.
>He had a compulsion to take over and control as soon as things didn't live up to his standards. Wherever he ended up he was always going to be the Governor.
He ended up reuniting with Martinez and not being too far away from the prison. That shit triggered the latent Governor personality in him.
If Blake had moved someplace west like Mississippi or Kentucky, everything about Woodbury and Rick would be out of sight, out of mind. He probably wouldn't have those compulsions as bad as he did when he saw Martinez. Remember Blake was now Brian Harriet, a seemingly good guy with a new wife and daughter. He was afraid of his cover being blown by Martinez and probably under a lot of stress from keeping it all together.
Yes it was. That whole episode was a great moment for the Governor as a character.
Sounds like wishful thinking on your part
Nope. I like living with running water, electricity, WiFi, being able to cook or order food anytime I want, and not worry about some asshole trying to murder me for my can of beans and bottled water.
In one of my previous jobs, there was this 1 coworker who always had this plastic smile and we just knew something was off about him. We had a legitimate concern he'd go postal on us because he was passed over promotion (twice) and thankfully I left the company a long time ago. People like my former coworker and the Governor would exploit the shit out of anarchy if shit hit the fan because they had enough.
