Reminder that anyone with a high end college degree should be scorned. If they have a degree from a "world class" school, you should disregard everything they have to say. These schools are hives of nepotism and ethically/politically motivated practices. I give more merit to people who have degrees from small colleges I've never heard of than these "prestigious" cesspits. Besides, the nature of knowledge has changed. Why does the size of a college library or facilities mean anything to me? All knowledge is available freely online. All curriculum pulls from an equal source. The only difference is the quality of the faculty: "lesser" schools have faculty that actually care about their subjects and proper teaching where supposedly famous professors just care about their pay and their politics.

A lot of that information ISN'T freely available. Colleges have subscriptions to databases that your average citizen probably can't keep track of. They've got a whole library's worth of not just knowledge but people in charge of curating, sorting, and cataloguing it. Professors are available for conversations and discussions you can't have outside the academic setting too.

I agree with you on most points but really the whole point of going to university is the networking, in hopes that one of the friends you make has a dad with a company that will employ you for the next few years after you graduate. It's not really about learning unless you are going into something specialized.

You can get ALL of that without going to an Ivy League school that has been objectively proven to practice nepotism and political cronyism. Face it, many schools have traded their integrity for money and political leverage and now I will treat their diplomas like the toilet paper they are. Seeing a degree from a UC or something like that no longer impresses me because I know that those schools have sacrificed their educational integrity.

J.D starting from a top ivy is around 160k starting salary, no joke. However, I don't think you should get upset about someone like Jazz getting into liberal arts.
Avg. starting salary at Harvard is 69K, but a libby arts starting there is probably low 60s/high 50s. Still relatively high, but your average engineering grad is going to earn the same or more.
Undergrad admissions are almost always bullshit. College programs matter on the grad and PHD level, undergraduate level education isn't taken very seriously.

I'm studying engineering with honours and on my way to graduate first class.

Univerisities are good and bad. A university degree is basically the most basic evidence that someone is competent in a field. Harvard is marketing gimmick, a little tick people put on theor resume to make business execs think better of you. Better univeristies tend to have better curriculum and atttact a higher class of people. They also accept celebrities because they're a business and image matters more than anything.

I fucking despise american univerisities though. I wouldn't do a course if I had to take gender education like a good goy amerimutt. Extracurricular is garbage nonsense that affords univeristies the privilege of leeway in who they accept. If it was just grades and national students it would be primarily whites. If it was just grades and internationally open it would be just asians.

Academia is being degenerated. Objectivity will die in our lifetimes and be replaced with "diverse methods of scientific rationale". It's because the average person knows nothing about anything and they don't care. It's because of nepotism among certain political ideologies that allow faculty to be filled with people who all think alike. Sociology is a garbage field for politically-motivated people and the only job you can get with that degree is HR, it's university faculty, it's propaganda. People are oversocialized animals and their interest in science is causing scientific rigor to die.
