Season 2 and 3 show a marked decline in quality, and the only explanation I can come up with is the creators are pandering to their fanbase instead of just making a show they personally feel is funny.

The creators are now fueled entirely by redditor farts.

People get tired of hearing and seeing something over and over and over again. With Rick and Morty, it got over-saturated due to overzealous fans.

Season 1 and 2 were good, season 3 was shit, it's been off the air that long, I no longer care.

Just finished the first episode, it was as bad as I remember.
