Well in the comics Drax was constructed by space Gods specifically to kill Thanos. Maybe Galactus? If he gave a shit. Lady Death shuts him down constantly, so her too I guess.
Ultimately Thanos beats himself every time, though, because he doesn't actually want to win. Its canon that he essentially sabotages himself. Same with the movies, actually now that I think of it. He could have killed ALL the avengers and Strange and then destroyed the stones and there wouldn't be shit all anyone could have done.
