Huh. Yea they're similar. Mixing between dream states and reality, high society partying being portrayed as having a darker underbelly that may or may not be real ... weirdly, American Psycho seems more wholesome to me, even though EWS has a sane protagonist and an apparently happy ending.

I have a possibly-imagined memory of watching some cut of the film on TV. Final scenes, Bateman is breaking down, we get the meta-stuff. I have a definite visual image of a white park bench getting up, looking threatening, and chasing Bateman for a few seconds.
Where could I possibly have gotten this notion from? Is it in the book? I haven't read it but I could have gotten it by osmosis at some point, conceivably, and then dreamt it. I went through my blu-ray years ago, all the extras, didn't find.
