I'm told it's about as much radiation as a chest x-ray.

>I was in the toilet
Why did he think it was a legitimate excuse to say he was hiding inside a toilet bowl when the core exploded?

Attached: 1560333671714.gif (236x250, 1.47M)

You misunderstand. He simply dropped his harmonica and had to climb in to get it.

What the fuck was his problem?

it's actually 6 gorillion chest x-rays every second

How accurate is his character compared to the real one, seriously?

Well, he wrote a book which says that it wasn't his fault, and that the plant was just built wrong

The second I saw the faces of the characters in this show, it all felt right and authentic. They looked like Russians. Or maybe I was just thanking god that there wasn't a black woman in a white event for once in my life.

Is this an actual anime or custom made by someone? I don get it but i like it

Based comrade Scherbina did

Doesn't the show say that, too? Legasov says Dyatlov let things get as bad as they did because he was under the impression that AZ-5 could fix everything. Legasov wasn't supposed to talk about the graphite tips on the control rods because they could just pin the whole disaster on Dyatlov instead of admitting that they knew the plant's design was faulty and dangerous but chose to leave it as it was.

for me it's Lyudmila

Is this the Hickey/Vasily posting thread?

I really want to stuff this old piggy

Why did they have bad dosimeters?

Moscow's fault, that's what they do, they send faulty equipment and then they complain about the results

They weren't bad in the sense that a ruler isn't bad at measuring lengths under 12 in. The problem was they needed a tape measure for the amount of radiation being released and that dosimeter was locked in a safe.

Some survivors have said he was made out to be too much of an asshole but at the same time he must have been an asshole considering he refered to his underlings as "goldfish".

Some of the scientists shevrepresents were in fact women. Keep seething, incel.

The one in the safe got fried the moment they turned it on, clearly another faulty unit.
Comrade Sitnikov, go to the roof and confirm the core‘s not open.

>The problem was they needed a tape measure for the amount of radiation being released

Yeah one like 12 km long.

They kept the "good" ones in storage because the government wouldn't pay for many and they assumed nothing that bad could actually happen

Real anime, mechas fight the rogue reactor core.

>to this day lives with her NEET son in kiev
pretty based

Here some accounts about him, translated from Russian:
>On the way back, passing through the Control room-4, I lingered near Akimov A.F. He took a shift in a difficult situation, which is often the case with unstable, transitional or starting modes: there are a lot of people on the control room, the mode is unstable, the operators are overloaded. At the same time, it is necessary to have time to study the operational journal, fully master the situation, read shift tasks and programs Immediately after taking the shift, Dyatlov A. S. began to demand the continuation of the program and when A. Akimov sat down in a chair to study it, he began to reproach him in slowness and in the fact that he does not pay attention to the complexity of the situation created on the block. Dyatlov A.S., shouting, raised Akimov from his place and began to rush him. In all that was happening, there was nothing unusual either, such working methods were characteristic in the relations of Dyatlov A.S. with subordinate personnel.

This was the only downside in an otherwise pretty much perfect miniseries

>>We worked together for almost 10 years. We did not have friendly relations due to the large difference in age and because of different attitudes towards people. He was, in my opinion, overly domineering, sometimes rude, especially with those who were inferior to him in strength of character. He knew how to make a person learn, but did not really like to teach. He was interesting in the company, but always kept his distance, demonstrated his intellectual superiority. And he did it sometimes in a form offensive to the partner. But he was a professional of the highest standard, a broad-minded person. And today I think that in the field of reactor physics and technology, he was one of the leading experts, and not only at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. He sometimes threw phrases that RBMK is unknowable. For us young, it was amazing. We thought that Dyatlov knew everything.

Rolling for 8

The real question is why the bad dosimeter was designed to merely register trivial levels of radiation?
Why would be the utility of one that maxes out by a "chest x-ray"?

Rolling for creeping on Jared Harris

I don't think so...

Cheaper and good enough for every day use.

after all the hot memes this guy's 10/10 performance has spawned, i do hope he at least gets a token emmy nod or something and a better career out of this. as i understand he's one of those nameless british character actors stuck in shitty bbc9 shows

Gib dubs

rolan

It's not. Hollywood needs a 2-D bad guy. The real villain was Soviet informational control. Had Dyatlov known about earlier problems with AZ5, this never would have happened. In fact it wouldn't have happened had there not been another great Soviet problem, patchwork power failures which here forced the test to be delayed.

I serve the Soviet Union

You want to see him typecast as a villain in every garbage blockbuster like what happened to Tarantino's German?

Rolling for 2!

there's gotta be a sweet spot between that and 'dad character in sitcom'

Show says the same thing, But it also says he was arrogant and unlikeable person. Which is true.

In a cinematic landscape of comic book stupidity and inferior actors? Not the best possible career but a lot better than ignominy. In fact, it would be ...

Not very
historyvshollywood.com/reelfaces/chernobyl/

Good point. Where's /tern/

If Dyatlov was so smort, why didn‘t he know about the Xenon poisoning the reactor? Why did he insist on continuing the test wit a 200MW reactor when the test demands 700 for stable and safe conditions. Why did he fuck up the test 3 times already?
He was reckless cunt.

>show says the same thing
Maybe it whispers that for ten seconds in the courtroom scene but the whole rest of the show is DYATLOV IS THE DEVIL EXCEPT THAT THE DEVIL IS LIKEABLE AND DYATLOV ISN'T.

i stopped watching right then and there

Rollin'!

He didn't know about certain things because (as Mazin ought to have done a better job illustrating) almost nobody did, because it had been kept secret, because that whole society was one of secrecy. He specifically didn't anticipate xenon poisoning for the same reason airline pilots do not anticipate their computer systems causing them to crash. Mazin didn't do a better job of that because he had been ordered to have an omnipotent mommy figure and a 2-D bad guy. Mazin had been so ordered because that's how our own system, which has its own informational control stupidity, works.

Very well comrade, you will relocate babushkas.

Also don't nuclear plant workers wear a piece of photographic film and if that film goes black it means they were irradiated?
Did they in the show? I think I saw something on their chests from time to time but I'm not sure if they weren't just name tags, and nobody seemed to look at them.

Yes but those get triggered by a very small amount of radiation. They already knew it was at least 3.6.

I tried watching this but the fact they didn't even do fake Russian accents completely broke the suspension of disbelief for me. I don't know what the fuck they were thinking. They should have just done it with Russian actors with subtitles.

He's a caricature of a bad boss that lots of people watching could relate to.

Fake russian accents would've been fucking horrible. Try to get past the british accents if you can, the acting makes up for it.

He was one of the most experienced nuclear physicists in the world. At Chernobyl he was surrounded by young guys fresh out of university with no experience, so he was exasperated with the lack of experience around him and treated them like kids.

This being said, he isn't responsible for the events, as he was not given information about the system's prior failures in development.

Why do power plant operators dress like millers?

Yeah but in this case they were completely pointless; radiation was indicated by their *skin* changing color.

What does that mean?

Rollin

The major issue is being able to get dust off quickly. At least normally.

Anglos have that same inbred untermensch look that Slavs have

But Dyatlov and the higher-ups were insisting the core was intact and the explosion was some hydrogen tank rapture. They wouldn't be doing that if people's flesh was actually melting off their bones.
Also I'm not sure if the effects in the show weren't exaggerated, I don't know how long it takes for radiation burns to manifest.

The British accents align with Russian accents. That’s why they got a scot for the miner foreman

They did, though
