Subverting expectations isn't inherently shit. Take this show. All it does is take the obvious narrative and subverting it, only to subvert it again and again over the episode. Then the expected, formulaic subversions start to annoy you enough that you see why most stories aren't structured that way. But point is that it can work when done half-decently and not overdone over and over again every single episode for like 8 seasons.

Problem with the star wars subversions is they're retarded to the point where it's almost like they were designed to make you hate the movie and to crash the franchise with no survivors.

Although as an aside I'd argue that star wars is an inappropriate story for subversions. It started out as a sincere tribute to hero stories, so it's additionally retarded to do anything other than that. That's like if Disney released a MCU movie that subverted your expectations by being a The Boys (the comic)-tier subversion where the super heroes are all trash, going into great detail about how captain america was a repressed faggot who in his spare time secretly abducted nigger trannies and raped them to death or something. Like, yeah, that's a nice edgyboi story for your low budget shock movie or whatever, but it's wildly inappropriate in an MCU flick.
