Unfortunately, with the current state of Hollywood I dont think it can ever be surpassed. The current trend of pumping out 3 billion dollar movies every year just doesnt allow for the time and effort put into making something like this trilogy these days.

The age of film is over.
The Hollywood jews would rather recycle the same capeshit with the same cringe overrated actors for the 30th time using a green screen and CGI and spend the rest of the budget on marketing to scam retarded fucktards into watching it since its way cheaper and makes them a ton of money.
The music and vidya industry are suffering from the exact same dilemma.

How did a fat gore film director create such heartfelt movies?

UNBRIDLED
UNBROKEN
UNBEATEN

He's got a big fat heart. Then he lost weight and his power level dropped dramatically in his subsequent films.

Love and respect for the source while not being forced to make a globalized politically correct demographic appealing china/asian market pleasing film. He just made the movies the best he could in in his vision. If i recall from behind the scenes he used some of the top LotR fan artists who had already worked on the universe to construct and visualize the world.

>start watching this with girlfriend who has somehow never seen it
>ring wraith scene where frodo gets stabbed
>"ohh, they were super tough a second ago but now a main character is here so they're weak and cowardly how convenient"

what do?

Pretty much this. The Golden Age of entertainment is over. Music, vidya, movies, TV shows...everything seems to suck now. And even the "good" ones are usually just OK, but they're elevated due to a lack of competition. We get maybe one to two genuinely great films a year. Makes me want to end it all.

This is why you never watch kino with women.

She's right, Aragorn should never have been able to overpower all the ring wraiths.

But he was wielding a flaming torch that kept them at a distance. It was also pretty convenient that their robes were drenched in gasoline.

Having Lee who personally knew Tolkien probably helped too.

The begind the scenes are great cause you can really tell almosy every single person involved with the making of the movie put their heart into it.

The films shine the most when they're as close to the original material as possible. Wherever Jackson and his writers take liberties with dialogue and plot, it immediately declines towards mediocrity. Some user said it's almost as if they adapted it according to some screenwriter's manual, making Gimli designated comedy relief, adding moments like Legolas sliding on a shield and later down a mumakil's trunk, etc. Considering who Jackson is, he did quite well, but I do think they could have done far better.

The problem isn't that we won't ever get another trilogy like it. That has been a given since the day it aired. The movies were bound to be the greatest journey in cinematic history. But rather that we won't even get a single film that will likely ever manage to match it, espcially Fellowship. People always claim for the CG to have aged poorly, but the only scene that actually has is Gandalfs flashlight spell on the bridge. The Balrog looks incredible.

The Two Towers exist

GOT season 1-4 outclass this aggressively mediocre set of films by a huge margin. This is an objective fact but unfortunately LOTR fans are basically sensitive pretentious snowflakes that cannot come to terms with this fact because it hurts their feelings to see their childhood bedtime stories fall so short in the face of real talent.

Absolutely.
Shit bait.

Couldn't even finish season 1 so I highly doubt your edgy "its mature cause it has sex and death in it!!" community theatre HBO show holds a candle to actually entertaining movies.

>NOOOOO PLEASE DONT SAY BAD THINGS ABOUT MY FAVOURITE MOVIES IT HURTS MY FEELINGS

Yeah ok cope harder, wont change the fact that GOT is objectively superior to LOLTR. A case can be made for LOTR being a bit more entertaining than the seasons after 4, but other than that, sorry.

You don't know how to bait. Lurk moar, faggot.

This, the show started going downhill after season 1 and really fucking bad after season 4. But still season 1-4 and the books outclass the fuck out of lord of the rings. If you compare the 2 then lotr is just a children's story while ASOIAF is actually mature literature meant for adults, no it's not because muh sex and violence in case you were retarded enough to think this. Lord of the rings simply has no depth or really meaningful themes compared to the masterpiece that is ASOIAF.

Only a woman could think so.

Television shows are filled full of gossip for women because that's all women want to see

Nobody is buying your bait user.
Too obvious, try a more carefull approach next time saying that it's "not bad but GOT has the edge" or something.
