Honestly they’re fucking lucky they went with an annual billing cycle instead of month to month or I would have canceled it ages ago. I’ve honestly skimmed a bunch of the comics and they are NOT good. Like they’re okay I guess, but the show is clearly a vast improvement. They even seem like they’re just planning on flat out ignoring giant plot points from the source material e.g. by casting Black Noir as a black guy and just making it up whole cloth. Which is nice because it keeps dorks like me guessing what happens next

The point is to show how ridiculous the concept of superheroes existing is, as opposed to a funny love-letter to the genre... but again, that's not the point.

As a gritty, dark, adult-oriented comic to TV show adaptation, The Boys and TWD serve the same purpose, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if there is a huge overlap in fan-base.

The comic has some great moments and interesting characters, but it is honestly not that good. The pacing is notoriously shitty and supes aren't doing any superheroing at all, even for the show, which undermines the whole point of them existing on Vought paycheck. I was expecting boys going after legit superheroes when i first heard about the series, so the premise of "dude what if Superman was actually secretly evil lmao" felt like a shitty attempt at deconstructing the genre and a step down from what it could have been. Even mainline DC did that shit with Ultraman, and Irredeemable did that way better, so without the Ennis' edginess what's left is heroes and villains swapping the costumes, congratulations.

Well Homelander's fucked by saving Butcher, because Homelander would want his son, but his son would want his mother, and his mother would want Butcher. And Butcher's fucked because he can't try to kill Homelander anymore, or Homelander's son will kill him.

All of this assuming there wasn't some trickery taking place which I doubt to be the case. It just seemed out of character for Homelander to save Butcher when you really think about it. Yes he inadvertently helped Homelander liberate himself from Stillwell, but Homelander wouldn't reward him for trying to kill him up to that point -- plus he presumably let the baby and nanny die, and possibly anyone else within a block of that explosion, which is bad for Butcher because he's probably wanted for several counts of murder now.

As someone pointed out Black Noir isn't who he is in the comics, so he can't be the one to kill Homelander. Which really only leaves his son. Unless they introduce some bullshit eleventh hour character to do it.
